Turtle Wax Complete Care Detailing Kit 9-Piece $39.99 (Was $64.99) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Supercheap Auto (Membership Required)

160

Pretty good deal for a bit of kit that will cover the basics for most people, if you enjoy handwashing your own car.

TurtleWax's Wash & Wax is reputable too. Can't really go wrong for this price. Even includes a bucket for your water.

Full kit includes:

  • Wash & Wax
  • Clear Vue Glass Cleaner
  • Sponge
  • Microfibre Cloth
  • Scratch & Swirl Remover
  • Bug Off
  • Air Freshener

Would definitely be looking at getting a proper hybrid wax spray to supplement the wash & wax for your paint protection though.

  • Is it good? Some have experience with it?

    • I used to use it a while ago. It was good because it was the budget option that still delivered decent results. Got a better job since those days so now I use Meguiar's products personally. It's a bit more premium but not by much - I wouldn't mind going back to TurtleWax products.

      • The same. Meguiar’s is also scented which is something little but makes the clean and detailing process easier. Turtle Wax smells like strong detergent. It will get the job done but is a more budget brand and quality. I sometimes use their tyre cleaner when I need a quick touch up.

Quality wise Meguiar’s is really, really good for the money before using the more expensive and boutique brands like Gyeon in ease of application, shine, protection, etc.

Can someone explain why people enjoy hand washing their car?

    • +3

Hand washing your car offers several benefits over taking it to an automated car wash:

Thorough Cleaning: Hand washing allows you to reach every nook and cranny of your vehicle, ensuring a more thorough cleaning compared to automated systems which may miss certain areas.

Gentle Treatment: Hand washing enables you to control the pressure and techniques used, reducing the risk of scratching or damaging the paint and delicate parts of your car.

Customization: You can tailor the cleaning products and techniques to suit your car's specific needs, such as using gentle soap for delicate paint or specialized cleaners for rims and tires.

Attention to Detail: Hand washing allows you to pay close attention to detail, such as removing bugs, tar, and other stubborn contaminants, as well as cleaning intricate areas like grilles and emblems.

Inspection: While washing, you can inspect your car for any signs of damage, wear, or areas needing maintenance, which may go unnoticed in an automated car wash.

Satisfaction: Many car enthusiasts enjoy the process of hand washing their vehicles as it can be a satisfying and therapeutic activity, providing a sense of accomplishment and pride in maintaining their car's appearance.

However, automated car washes also have their advantages, such as convenience and speed. Ultimately, the choice between hand washing and automated car washes depends on factors like personal preference, available time, and the level of care you want to provide for your vehicle.

Ceebs formulating a response so I asked ChatGPT. Thought it was a reasonable answer. I don't trust handwash places because I've had experiences where they don't clean certain nooks and crannies. Not too pleased. That's anecdotal though. Traditional auto washes with brushes for drying will damage my roof racks and paint. Laser touchless auto washes will never take off anything other than settled dirt and dust.

      • don't have a trust some bloke to not scratch my car/do a dodgy job
      • don't have to wait around for a car wash to finish
-don't have to pay $50-100 for a good wash
      • I can do a far more detailed job

if you have to ask this, then you drive a POS where you don't care about your car. If you have a car you baby (new, luxury, modified, historic, etc…) then you don't trust people to take care of your car as well as you can.
even those full detail shops don't care about your car. they will quickly wash and detail it so they can move on to the next customer. more customers = more money.

this is a great budget set, but i think i purchased this on clearance for $10-$20 last year i think. this is set is good, but there is obviously better, but it cost a lot more for a little better performance.

also it is cheaper then going to the car wash.

      hope that helps mate

    • I did see that, lol. Keep it at 6 upvotes or add 60 more to keep the balance.

  • Budget wax.. does an OK job.

Good for cheaper cars, not so much for premium/ prestige vehicles.
