      My first attempt was inspired by FF series.. obviously 2d platform so more akin to SNES FF.
      Random invisible encounters etc

    These user-friendly wizard editors are great for learning, especially for teens/young people.

    I created many a level in Jazz Creation Station and Adventure Game Studio back in the day!

      Solid agree.

      Also, an Australian game studio makes a spiritual successor to AGS called PowerQuest on Unity for free with lots of support (for those of us who want to bring Point and Click games into the next generation)

        Nice. I suppose AGS is well and truly done by now. It was fizzling out 15 years ago.

          AGS still exists, but it's (obviously) people who are used to it or rusted on to that community (the last annual AGS global meetup actually happened in Queensland in 2019, it seems!)

          If someone wanted to make BargainQuest today and they were new to game making, I'd probably steer them towards PQ (but AGS is likely viable.if they have the right windows build on their computer, I guess)

            • You have battles against other OzB users in order to nab good deals
            • Avoiding roaming hazards on the map like jv and slavoz
            • NPC interactions include HelloPam or that guy who has a system to beat the casinos
            • Mini games such as drawing scenes on MS Paint

    Man this brings back memories. I used to love making rpg games.. I never made any good ones on the program. But this was all before youtube and tutorials were a thing.
