Outlook Mail Spam Everyday

Hello all, I have googled this, and it seems to be super common. outlook has done something so now spam is getting into inbox. it used to be good now its just very bad.

yahoo and Gmail is fine. somehow yahoo is doing better than Outlook? how I don't know. I'm getting so much spam I'm not sure what to do, I tried to make the ''rules'' thing people suggested on Google, but that has no help, spam is still getting through. Is anyone else with this issue and how to fix this? it's always the spam mail with pictures getting through.

i tried blocking them but they keep coming. has no effect and also i do not see any spam flitter settings on outlook https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/office/change-the-level-…
I don't see this option at all.

Not for me. I may have 1 or 2 a year reach my inbox. The rest go to junk.

The reason you can't block is simple. Spammers have many email accounts with the similar address. They just change one letter or number in them, then they will change 2 letters or numbers so they get through the blocking system.

In the years I have had Yahoo and Gmail I can only recall one junk mail in Gmail.

    • Gmail has the advantage of very strict spam filtering, a lot of groups complain that Google keeps blocking them because too many users mark them as spam.

Personally I find it fantastic, I'm sick of every time I purchase something I'm signed up to a mail list. The only one I don't unsubscribe to is JB hifi (for the coupons).

    • pretty much everything of mine goes into junk, even stuff i want to see BUT dont want in my main inbox. I browse my junk more than my inbox. but what really annoys me now is that I cant open links or attachments without marking the sender as safe. Just because I want to see whats in a catalogue doesnt mean I want it clogging up my inbox! But yet actual important emails, gets deleted right away without notifying me. Really f'n annoying

  • Outlook is by far the worst for spam emails in my experience. It almost feels like there is no filtering process.

  • you can add your outlook to a Gmail account.
that was the only method that worked for me

    • what..? how and have you gotten spam? how will this help

        settings
        see all settings
        accounts and import
        import mail and contacts
also setup "send mail as" to send using your outlook through Gmail.

clears most spam. rarely some marketing gets through but once you tag it as spam, future emails will go straight to the spam folder

        • not working.
Gmail couldn't identify your POP server. Please enter your POP server information below.
          is this not right?? https://prnt.sc/lOxF2wfk4ocm

          • @Rukiata: do you have 2 step verification enabled?
will need to setup an app password if you do

            • @follow: no i dont. so i dont know why its not working?

              • @Rukiata: gave it a try just now with a new outlook address. worked without issue.

provide the steps taken to get to that screen. didn't come across a page like that when I tried.

                • @follow: it asks for pop server

                  • @Rukiata:

provide the steps taken to get to that screen.

                    • @follow: i follow your steps and it says UNDER Import mail and contacts

This import has not started. Provide info

and when i click that it says need pop server and donst work

                      • @Rukiata: delete and restart
                        does it authenticate?

                        • @follow: same issue.

                          • @Rukiata: do you successfully login to your outlook account

                            • @follow: i cant get past it
still says Gmail couldn't identify your POP server. Please enter your POP server information below.
                              when i try.

  • Same got pretty badt his past month

  • Since about 2 months ago, my Outlook junk folder has been flooded daily with Italian spam.
Since about 2 or 3 days ago, a handful of Italian spam was appearing in my Inbox.

But, as of last night, I have received no new Italian spam…
    Something is going on..

If the problem reoccurs, I'll try @follows gmail trick

  • I set my Junk mail setting to Maximum, i.e. only emails from my Safe senders list go into Inbox, everything else straight to Junk Mail.
It took time to build my safe sender list but now I've finally taken control of my inbox.

Not sure where to find that Junk mail setting now though as MS seems to have moved it around.

delete all your old email accounts phone connections through MS Outlook online. Even the MS engineers couldn't work that out.

  • Yeah Outlook by itself doesn't have much in the way of spam filtering. You need either a business subscription with Microsoft defender or some external third party filtering.

  • "Edison" Mail app on mobile, filtered spam majorly from a hundreds of spam in Inbox to none

    • Not ideal as then that app and app developer has full access and can see all your emails.
