Installing a New Air Conditioner Victoria - Any Rebates?

Hi all, planning to install a small 3.5kw Air con in my home.

Was looking at some rebates offered not sure it seems confusing, some web sites say the rebate is now over, others say still available if you have a heater panel?

Just wondering if anyone went through this recently and managed to get any rebates?

Cheers.

For just a single unit, rebate is fa overpriced scam scheme organised by some mobs lynching off government name and tax. Just sell your kidney or whatever you can afford, get the MHI unit off Bunnings and ring around, it can't be more than 2k if you do your homework right.

A lot of the companies that participate in the rebate scheme are crooks who jack up the price to steal most of the rebate for themselves.

I bet if you didn't mention the rebate the quote would be less.

  • If you have ducted heating you can get 3-4 ACs from $3k through the rebate, otherwise, there are no reasonable rebates.

    • Really can you just get 1 ac

      • The rebates are for x kW system and the minimum to be eligible is 16kW so the installers package it as 8+5+3 or what I did 8+5+3+3 for $3.5k. For just one there aren’t any rebates.

  • Here's the state government website, with lists of approved providers and products.

Heating and cooling for households - rebate info page

As above, I recognise none of the 'approved providers', so trust is not strong with this one.

Dont worry about the rebate. Cost will be almost the same with or without. I got quote for both so i know. I might save with the rebate for somewhat 100.
