  • I'm in the market for something like this. Is there a generally great one i should be looking for?

    • +4

I personally use the Tomtoc Sling, as other with a similar size are alot more expensive.

      For example:

      • Aer Day Sling 3 (which is ~AU$180)
      • Bellroy Mini Sling (which is ~AU$139)
      • Alpaka Go Sling Mini (which is ~AU$106)
      • Much appreciated. I checked out some reviews on one of the sites mentioned and i saw the AER brand referenced.

The one in the post seems like solid value, wonder if they fit an OLED switch easily (slightly bigger).

wonder if they fit an OLED switch easily (slightly bigger).

It will fit a Nintendo Switch OLED as per this Youtube Video by Everyday Gear.

yes, I got one the last time they went on sale. I have v1 Switch, largish battery backup, usb cable, glasses case and some other small but useful stuff (sharpie, multitool etc). Won't fit much more in but that is all I need.
I would get something bigger if you want a water bottle as well.
But i use mine a lot.

          • @skyva: Yeah weirdly i was looking at this one last night. I'll start with this and maybe grab something else for when i need water etc. Thanks!

        • I would recommend the larger size. I have both sizes and I stopped using the smaller one. It fits a Switch and not much else. The larger size I can fit a Switch, Steamdeck or Legion Go, plus powerbank, cables, iPad mini, EDG, and a few other items.

    • I wouldn't look at all. Such bags are pretty useless. Too big for minimal stuff, not enough big if you are going to use instead of a day-backpack.So, basically most of the time you end-up carrying both - daypack and this bag, and it is not convenient. The only benefit is carrying documents, but you carry them only to/from an airport. Or if you have a huge wallet, or if you have small pockets in your pants/shorts or don't have pockets at all.

I bought it based on this review…

I've used it on a few international trips and absolutely love it. Even added a carabiner to the fabric hook on one end to hang my hat when I'm not wearing it.

I now use it almost anytime I leave the house for the day and the build quality and features are unmatched at this price. Would buy again in a heartbeat!

  • too bad not sold by amazon au, im looking to use my $10 promo code

  • Question from left field, but has anyone tried to adapt this into a handlebar bag to attach to a bicycle?

  • Thanks OP. Is this a male or female sling bag?

    • Difference being?

Honest question - thinking of buying one for my dad for travelling

      • It is sold under women’s accessories on the seller’s Amazon page

        • +1

And? It's just a bag right? There isn't any difference? Like there is with zippers and buttons?

      • +1

        One has a penis

    • last time I checked I was male. I bought the olive green as it goes with lots of stuff and doesn't stand out too much like white or black would.

I got a different Tomtoc case for my Nintendo Switch a while ago and I'm happy with the quality for the price. Seems like a good value brand.

The eshay are gonna be all over this! Wondering how their steal it from Amazon?

Back in my day - it was referred to as a man-bag for a fancy boy

(I’m kidding of course - I see the value in this. Good for an e scooter too if your not wanting a large backpack)

  • Perfect bag for all of your important documents, moneys, pen, sanitizer, small power bank, phone and other small important stuff that you'd like to keep on you at all time when travelling.

  • Bought this bag in the last sale and have been using it almost everyday. For me it's the perfect size as I just need to carry car key, wallet, portable battery and some other small items.

  • How is the ease of use of the hidden back pocket for passport and boarding pass? It looks like the boarding pass could get mangled? Or is the zipper opening much longer than a boarding pass?

Also any feedback on keeping the bag on while driving in the car?

  • I considered buying this for our Japan trip next month. I opted for the Pacsafe Vibe 325, pricey but well worth it.

Wouldn't be caught dead using this product. Who wants to look like a damn Eshay? It is basically a bum bag.

    • Behind on the times grandpa it's not for eshays anymore

  • anyone try to put a small bottle of water in? how does it feel?

    • +2

It can fit up to a 600ml-750ml bottle, but basically fills out most of the bag.

Depending on my day, I use the Sistema 280ml Bottle or clip a bigger bottle to the outside of the sling bag with a Nite Ize S-Biner.

  • I already have a few Bellroy slings but this looks great on photos. ordered the 14" version (9L) to check the quality

  • Interested to hear users opinions on these - I can't see where I'd need to use this and not prefer a backpack.

    • I already have 2 daypacks and a large crumpler courier bag. I use the small sling to carry a few small items that wont fit comfortably in pockets when i dont want to take a daypack. If you have nothing, get a daypack/backpack.
