amaysim Refusing to Refund Phone Purchase

EDIT UPDATE: refused to accept the parcel and the package was returned to the Optus warehouse. I had escalated the issue and a case manager confirmed that they received the device back and approved a full refund.

Hey OzBargain, last night I bought a Moto G62 off Amaysim for mum, thinking her old phone broke.

Turns out, there were some mobile settings that were changed when she went overseas and her phone is now back in action. I contacted Amaysim almost 30 minutes after purchase requesting a refund, but it was after hours so I left an email and message on their socials.

They've replied back saying that as part of their policy, they can't refund me. It hasn't even been dispatched from their warehouse? Is there anywhere I can escalate this? Has anyone had similar issues trying to refund new devices back to Amaysim?

    you should have known their shoddy practices before already dude. If nothing take as an experience on adding amaysim to the list of companies you should NOT DO BUSINESS WITH.

    But regardless any actual fault with phone ?? or no if no actual fault I doubt they honor change of mind return (let alone that with you paying for return shipping)

    Returns Policy for changes of mind

    Note that we do not provide a refund for change of mind unless you are within any cooling off periods as required under the Australian Consumer Law, or the following applies:

    (a) Return or exchange prior to order processing at our warehouse: A full refund is available at any time prior to order processing. This includes pre ordered items. It may also be possible to exchange your item prior to order processing at the amaysim warehouse. Please call us on 1300 808 300 or via the Live Chat function. If the item has already been processed at the time that your request is made to theamaysim representatives, the case will be treated as an ‘unopenedbox’ return. Please see terms and conditions for this return type below.

    (b) Within 30 days of receipt, unopened box: Included with every order is a 30 day returns policy. You can claim a full refund or exchange of the item value (excluding shipping fees) on unused and unopened items. The item must be sent back to our nominated address accompanied by a amaysim-issued claim reference number Shipping back to the nominated amaysim address (including shipping fees) is the responsibility of the customer and transfer of ownership does not occur until the item has been received, inspected and the refund offer accepted. The item must be received by us within 30 days of receipt of a claim reference number.

    (i) All open box items are assessed and may be returned to you where damage is evident.

    I would suggest picking up the telephone and calling them, however you've now waited all day and they may have already sent it.

  • Just bought a G62 and when I received it, noticed the seal had been broken. Was it the same case with yours?
