    • Why?

I believe its a reference to the model being 'Cyberpower BRIC' and sharing a name with BRIC/BRICs

        It's a joke. 🤣😂🤣😂

    • It's also true though. Those four nations are the most susceptible to power cuts.

I can count on one hand the number of power cuts I've had over the last five years. More space is needed for this in my small room, I can't justify this for my pc setup.

I live in Melbourne and can only just count on one hand, the number of times the power cut in the last month..

  • Do these use proprietary batteries?

No just simple 12v lead acid, replaced one myself a few weeks ago

    • I haven't replaced mine yet, but it looks like you can just unscrew the battery cover and replace it with a matching 12v 9ah battery.

How long will this UPS last.

    5 bay synology nas 2019. 50w idle.
    Nbn arris modem
    Unifi router
Unifi 8port poe switch (few things hanging off it. Wireless AP, cloudkey, few poe cameras).

    5 minutes?

    • Product page should list the estimated run time for different loads as % of 850VA capacity. I've got a fairly similar load say to yours (modem, router, POE switch and access points, NVR, Rpi controller) hanging off the smaller 650VA unit and they seem to last about 30m

    • What's your use case for wanting it to last? General use case for these is that they have enough juice to shut your stuff down safely.

      • Mostly to avoid glitches/damage from short power brownout/blackouts and ride through smaller outages. If you run security system with external reporting, also gives you the chance to catch footage if someone takes off your mains power ahead of breaking in.

Generally include decent power filtering as well, so if you get one like this multiple outlets you're effectively getting a filtered/protected powerboard as well.

Theoretically allows me to shut down gracefully, but rarely bother.

        • Oh yep. Yeah it has an easy setting to allow for that. I’ve set mine to only send the signal for shutdown once power hits <3minutes. Generally sits at 29minutes with a i3 nuc, router, ds923+ and a qnap tr-04 all plugged in.

  • Officeworks model is not the same

I-tech (in the photo) has 6 ports and Officeworks has 8

New to UPS here. Can the battery be replaced with an LFP?

  • I bought a new battery for one of these last weekend - cost $55, so the unit price is pretty good!
Living in the tropics (lots of lightning) I use this mainly for power filtering purposes.
