Samsung Offering Refund on Faulty Soundbar

Hi there OzBargainers, I have sent a soundbar to Samsung for a warranty repair.

They say they cannot repair the item and want to refund me. I asked for a replacement, but they say no stock, perhaps due to new model being released lately.

I paid $800 for the soundbar that RRP $1500. If I take the refund I can't get a like for like replacement for $800. Can I insist that Samsung replace the soundbar?

Many thanks.

I hope you give them a good review.

How do they replace it if they have no stock.

Take the refund with good grace and move on.

I think OP is hoping they may be able to convince Samsung to upgrade them to a higher/newer model.

They replace with the current equivalent model- this is incredibly common as a customer service process.

Given Samsung's reputation though this could be highly optimistic.

(I'm really surprised that multiple people on this thread seem to find this an unusual idea)

    No.

    Read the ACCC laws..

I came here to read hilarious comments but was unfortunately disappointed.

You paid $800. It died. They are offering you $800 back. Go and buy whatever you want after.

  • I swear I've seen this exactly scenario a million times before on Ozb

  • They're upholding their end of the ACCC but you want more??

Thanks mate that was the first helpful reply on here! Even the staff at JB suggested I stick to my guns. All the Ozbargain crew so far were as helpful as an ashtray on a motorbike. Cheers

"as helpful as an ashtray on a motorbike" as long as it still holds coins it's ok

Could be worth asking if you can get a replacement that is similar in specs to what you have now, then see what they're willing to give. Might be an easier ask then asking for the same back if they have none in stock.

Can I insist that Samsung replace the soundbar?

You can ask, but if they don't make it anymore, what are you expecting them to do?

Ask them for a different model instead.
