Best Car for 6 Foot 7 Person (200cm)

Hi all, as a tall driver, I’m frustrated with the move to SUV’s as they generally have reduced legroom.

What cars would people recommend for tall drivers like myself?

I currently have a 2016 Elantra which I bought new, which is tolerable, still not as much as my old Falcon. I currently plan to drive it, until it dies due to the lack of options in the market.

Unfortunately the new variant of the Elantra has this divider thing which severely restricts legroom. The Sonata in Australia is bigger on paper but in Australia we only get the sports variant which feels much smaller than my Elantra.

Apparently the model 3 is good for tall people but I don’t like Tesla and EV’s in general (although it may be my option of last resort).

Utes and ute based 4wd’s are out, they are tiny inside, as are other 4wd’s, foresters are average. Camrys are small, and last time I tried the Corolla it had more legroom, strange.

I read something online about Skoda Superbs, they are quite ugly but beggars can’t be choosers, I’ll give it a try.

Kicking myself I didn’t buy a Commodore, just before they stopped making them, Commodores were great re legroom, although buying a new Commodore may force me to forfeit my OzBargain membership.

Sounds like you need to walk around some showrooms and try out vehicles. Note most of them have seats that move backwards.

    You'll fit absolutely fine in a G-wagon.

    • On of the basketball imports used to drive one ariund newcastle 35 years ago. He was taller than 6ft 7.

      • Did he rip out the front seat and drive from the back?

    One with a sun roof.

  • RAM ute, F150, Ranger …you should comfortable fit each of these options

Everytime I see an f150 in suburbia I think of the canyonero song

12 yards long, 2 lanes wide,
      65 tons of American Pride!
      Canyonero! Canyonero!
Top of the line in utility sports,
Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts!
      Canyonero! Canyonero! (Yah!)
She blinds everybody with her super high beams,
She's a squirrel crushing, deer smacking, driving machine!
      Canyonero!-oh woah, Canyonero! (Yah!)

The Kentucky fried truck that’s endorsed by a clown!

  • My Subaru liberty has an amazing amount of leg room - but they stopped bringing them in to Aus.

Try sitting in the current model Outback. It might be similar

  • Susuki shwift

  • VW Arteon is very roomy front and back.

You need to get a top of the range model as they generally have fully adjustable seats that include lowering (Not just back and forward + back tilt). Ive also found cars with sunroofs great because your head is in the raised part of the roof space before the glass giving you an extra inch or so

Dont sunroofs lower the roofline? The sunroof puts extra mechanisms underneath the standard roof line.

      • No there is a cutout for the glass which is above the interior roofline

        • True, but theres often a cover for the sunroof too, so tall person might have to leave it open all the time to make additional headroom. Not great in midday sun.

You need to "grow up", as a tall person, I have never found a sunroof that raises the roof for me. It as Euph, says, always lowered it.

BTW for the OP, all the Camrys I have had always had leg room (Except for someone sitting behind me 😀), although I have shorter legs that you.

  • Go to a used car yard and try lots of big cars.

There is a thread on Reddit that's about a year old and some of the suggestions include Ford rangers, Subaru Foresters and Outbacks, Landcruisers and Patrols, Rav4, Skoda Karoq or Kodiaq.

I'll also add Kia Carnival and older Grand Carnival to the mix. The older ones are a bit thirsty but larger.

  • Give the Citroen C5X a try, it looks really comfy and i've always found headroom and ergonomics to be good in French cars.

  • I'm 6'8" and fit very comfortably in a ford territory

    lol.. Convertible, of course!

Vw beetle. Remove front seat and use the rear bench

    Convertible?🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • A few inches shorter at 6'4" - I've owned both VW Golf and Subaru Impreza hatches and never needed to have the seat all the way back. There's still room for a normal height person to sit behind me in the Impreza.

  • Suzuki Alto. Says it in the name

  • Ozbfan, mate, you got so many feet you can't count them? is it 6 or 7? Generally people have 2, and some unlucky sods have only 1 or none, but those usually don't drive. Did you consider surgery? And please make sure the surgeon counts them first, or better yet, tell him to leave 2 feet and chop of the rest, instead of "remove 5", because you may be left with only one.
