    Personally I have had bad experience with khumo tyres with blown tyres (on the side). Luckily it was in tyre plan and they replaced it for free..

    • +1

      looks like bad chance there, they are long mileage tyres otherwise.

      • I would think so. It happened to two of the 4 new tyres

    • when was that ?

      • Oct 2023

    • It would by highly unlikely for not one but two tires to blowout from a manufacturing issue/defect/poor quality. Sidewall blowouts are usually caused by under-inflation, the tire wall will flex too much, especially at highway speeds.
      I just use a good quality bicycle pump with a digital gauge to top them up, usually every month or two (it depends how much you drive). And I like to keep my tires a little bit higher than the recommended psi by the car manufacturer, maybe a couple of psi.

    Kumho have always been good bang for $$.

    The AT51s are very well priced if you're looking for a good mid-range 4WD tyre - eg $273 for 275/65R17, while most competitor tyres are around $400 each.

    • +2

      Normally $390 - $273 is with the 30% off

      I did have a look after seeing your post though and found they have a new AT52 in the 265/65 R17 for $216 after discount - doesn't seem too bad a deal ;)

        I have 17,000km on LT AT52's on my Terracan. Mostly tarmac but a bit of dirt around Alice, Oodnadatta, Flinders ranges etc. Held up well, no issues. Much firmer, rougher even, ride with the LT's. Lot of tyre for the money, I paid $195 each about a year ago.

  • Same Kumho tyre I got from Tyresales last week is still cheaper $30.

    • -2

      Thats cos tyresales r grey imports basically rejects from other countries. Fobs u off if try to claim for defective tyre. Mycar offers 12 mths road damage warranty.

      • have to agree there.. bought 4 Yokohama's off Tyresales… 2 of them are ready for replacement and i dont even have 20,000kms off them yet… and i do not drive like a hoon either… so yeah safe to say reason Tyresales are cheap is they are prob supplying us with very old tyres that have been sitting around for years and are degrading/life is shortened..

        never buying off them again

        • There is a 4 digit manufacturing date code on the tyre sidewall that you can check. The first 2 are the week and the last 2 are the year. So 1523 would be the 15th week of 2023.

  • Does mycar do fit and install for free or charge on top of the tyre price?

    • +3

      Answering my own question after checking their website:
      * Free tyre fitting
      * Free standard wheel balancing and tubeless valve
      * Free environmentally-friendly tyre disposal
      Lifetime tread guarantee against manufacturing faults
      * Free Tyrelife Saver Program that will help extend the life of your tyres on purchases of two or more

    Shame you can't price match and then add the 30% off.

    Waiting for Amex Deal

    • It went a couple of months ago

  • HP21 or KL33 ? Does anyone know which one is providing more mileage please ? Thanks

  • +1

    OMG, too late, booked and deposited $200 at bob jane to replace 4 X 235/65/18 110V.
    Bob Jane = $1000
    MyCar = $800.

    • +3

      Ask them to price match or cancel

      • already deposited $200 as they need to order the tyres in.

        • check if its refundable ?

          and manufactured dates

  • How does Kumho Tyres compare to Tracmax or Roadx tyres? Dont know much about quality and brands in tyres.

    • +2

      Kumho Tyres are very good. Will serve you a long time if you drive carefully.

  • 225/45/R17

    PA51 $132
    PS71 $143
    HS51 $157

    Anybody have any comments on the tread life?

    • +1

      Thread life is about 50k. Will last you 2 years if you drive 25,000kms annually. Tyres are good.

      • For all?

    • +1

      any luck with that tyre size im after the same ones, i called my car said they dont have any tyres that size?

  • My thoughts - I bought two $268 Kumho Crugen HP71 225/55R18 98V for 2017 Tucson - the worst junk I ever Had - follow the road - noisy - go out of balance - shocking in the wet
    Two for the 2017 Mazda 3 - noisy , no feel especially in the wet never know when they will let go

    I had two fitted to a VR commodore many years ago drove around the block pulled back in and swapped them off - thought the quality may have changed - same crap

    go else ware and spend a little more

  • One thing that annoys me in AUS compared to other countries, is no expectation of having a clearly advertised treadwear rating.

    It's so easy to think you got a decent deal on some tyres, then find out they've got a low treadwear rating, versus other brands or models with 2-3-4X the treadwear rating and they do the job well enough, without costing you a new set of tyres within 2 years.
