BYD Atto 3 2024 Update

Anyone else excited with the new 2024 Atto 3 update? Looks better and probably $5000-$6000 cheaper too.

I’d be pissed off if I bought the current model with the pathetic $2023 rebate if the new model does get the price cut.

    No

  • I'll hang on to my vitara until it dies - then i'll get the cheapest EV that has 5 star ancap rating. Wonder what year/decade they'll start rolling out the ICE Tax for simply having one registered in your name in NSW.

    • The ICE tax is petrol plus petrol excise!

More likely they'll roll out EV Tax for simply having one registered in your name.

I think the biggest joke is that it's the equivalent of $25,000 AUD in China. Just goes to show how much we're getting fleeced in taxes and middleman fees.

If it was that the take up would be through the roof.

    • Completely agree! But in saying that, my last research (of other EVs) I remember we actually pay less than in NZ, Europe, and some other countries. Only a handful of countries get it for less, and not much less.

So other than in china itself, it’s comparable. Those middle men fees are everywher.

      • Well, Tesla 3 is around $35K USD in China, and based on that, there is a big gap between Tesla vs Atto. Then again BYD outselling Tesla, so why would they reduce the prices, someone making good money :)

        • Many EV manufacturers are reducing prices cause of weak demand and plenty of investment in capacity which needs to be paid for.
That’s why BYD has reduced its already low prices at home and I reckon very likely to in every market it operates to stimulate demand.

  • Anyone else excited?

I certainly am…Less people driving around "Building My Dreams" across their liftgate

    • Yea they got the memo didn’t they. So cringe

  • Price won’t change. So won’t be cheaper.
Also EV direct have not committed to bringing all variants to aus. The 2023 atto 3 had four versions, ev direct imported 1 version. They are unlikely to import all the versions and will continue with a single model at the current pricing.

    • Yea when the market is new it’s probably not good to confuse it with so many variants, but as the market evolves and others push in other models they’ll respond filling every gap. So we’ll see what comes!

My guess is there will be similar sticker RRP, but plenty of rebates or limited time discounts.
