Cruise Company Recommendations and Booking Tips

My mum is deadset on going on a cruise to NZ and back this summer. I don't know anything about them, can I get some company recommendations or booking tips?

I googled some up and P&O and Carnival have cruises that suit our time and budget but want to find out if there's ways to get discounts.

Join the foums on Cruise Critic.

Holland America is not bad - over 50s
    Azamara is great but expensive
Cunard isnt as dear as you think. Look for specials. But it does has enforced dress codes etc.
Celebrity and Royal are both in the same sort of tier. More families etc. Good quality but ships half full of kids.

royal carribbean is probably the best cruise line for value and quality.

Princess Cruises are my fav….been around NZ twice with them

  • ozcrusing is cheaper price. then head to flybuy travel for price match & get some flybuy points

  • i know 2 families that enjoyed the royal caribbean the that 10 day nz trip. one went during christmas and the other couple just got back.
    both loved it.

i highly recommend you take a cheap 2-4 day cruise before going on a 10 day to see if you like it. get some experience before taking that long trip.

  • Ive been on both Carnival and Royal Caribbean in the last 5 years and enjoyed both experiences.
I also did a P&O cruise about 20 years ago and that was OK too.

Pretty sure after Covid all cruise lines set a high standard so if its your first cruise you will enjoy no matter which line you choose.

  • I've own 100 shares in Carnival (equivalent to about $2500 AUD) on the NYSE - Code = CCL.
(Not financial advice but happy to risk it for my 14 night cruise coming up)

The reason is that one of the Perks is an bonus credits that are offered - certainly worth considering.
More details are here - https://www.carnivalcorp.com/shareholder-information/shareho…
I purchased mine easily through Comsec International.
