If I Apply Citi Prestige Card, Will I Get The Bonus Points?

I currently have Citi Rewards credit card and have received the bonus velocity points. Going to close this one soon and wanting to apply Citi Prestige card.

The Citi Prestige card page has this in the T&C now about the bonus points:

This offer is not available when closing or transferring from another Citi branded credit card account or in conjunction with any other Citi branded credit card offer.

Don't quite understand the wording. I assume if I close the Citi Rewards card first, I should be eligible for the Citi Prestige card's bonus points as well?

  Isn't that clear? These offers are usually targeted at new customers who don't already have a Citi credit card.

    No, it's for those who already having a lower tier Citi card and want to do a switch/upgrade to this one. You can do that - provided meeting the requirements, but get no bonus points if approved.

    Just cancel your Rewards and apply for this one. Citibank don't have cool down period so you can apply immediately if needed. But I generally lie low for at least a week before apply new one.

  from my experience you should get bonus as long as you don't do a product transfer. so just make a new application. if in doubt call them. but if you close your current card before making a new application there is no guarantee the new card will be approved but more likely. you can always call the team if they reject it and offer to close existing card to get new application re assessed.

  That wording is more for if you directly upgrade/downgrade your current card.

  You will get the bonus if it is a different card on a new application (That you haven't held in past 12 months). I've gotten the bonus on the Prestige and Premier cards at the same time before. Just note you will lose any unspent points and Payall setups when you close your old card this way.
