An idea about an additional way monetize Ozbargain.
- New deals category called Advertised Deals.
- Companies pay money to advertise their deals.
- Posting rules for these deals might be a bit relaxed.
- The deals are featured on a different page accessible via "advertised deals" tab in the header menu.
- The deals are not mixed with the normal deals when posted.
- But people can still vote on them; and if they get enough votes; the advertised deals appear on the front page.
I don't think "monetization" is the community's problem :)
What you are saying basically is letting merchants to pay for more relaxed rules to post deals, which I think most community members would not want. There are many merchants already doing very well playing within the parameter (ShoppingExpress for example), and I think merchants should learn to:
