    should I wait for $ 120

    Should post it on OZWaitForBargain.com.au

  • They're matching the good guys. Got one with cashback the other night

    • Goodguy HD2237/73 isn't onsale now, maybe later…

      • Oh nice catch. Thanks. They were a few days ago.

      • I bought one yesterday for $141. It's not marked as on sale, but it is in their system.

I recommend the instant pot for anyone looking to invest in a pressure cooker. Bought one 4 years back and have used it twice a week on average since. Lives permanantly on the kitchen bench whereas most other appliances I've bought in the past get relegated to the back of a cupboard after the initial fad stage has passed.

I also bought an Instant Pot to replace a Tefal that died. I agree with you and @Arcticfox, Instant Pot 8L is the way to go, and costs the same as this Philips on sale

    • Have you tried this one?? The Phillips is a ripper!

    Agree with Bullion78 above…

I purchased a Philips 8L once but returned it and eventually got an Instantpot Duo Nova 8L instead because:

    • Came with a stainless steel pot - Philips was an extra expense. Essentially add $40 to your price
    • Instantpot has low and high slow cooker setting, Philips does not. It just boggles my mind why it doesn't have a low and high setting for this function…
    • Can buy a glass lid for the Instantpot for slow cooking, works great
    • The lid can 'slot' onto the rim, keeping the lid out of the way when opened. Philips does not have that, you just have to dump it on your bench somewhere
    • The Instant Pot is lower with a wider base (only slightly) but I find it easier to sear meat in where as the Philips was narrower and taller - which I would have found more annoying
    • Instant Pot has a separate release valve button, so I don't have to go near the release port/steam. Philips button IS the valve, so I think you just have to dodge the steam/hot water when releasing. I'm just guessing this though, have not used it myself.
    • You get two sealant rings that go around the edge of the inner lid with Instantpot, think you only get one with the Philips? Happy to be corrected if wrong.

I got the Instant Pot for $152 on Amazon at the time but it has gone down as low as $139 before for the 8L.
If price is your guiding factor, or unless you really need this appliance now, I would wait for the Instantpot to go on sale over this. But if all the things I mentioned do not matter to you, go for it.

This has a low temp & high temp slow cook, and this also comes with the stainless steel bowl.

I agree with staying away from the Philips 8L, but this 6L is better than the 8L in my opinion. The 8L doesn't have a manual pressure cook setting, you have to pick the preset that is closest to what you want and can only adjust the cook time upwards from there (not downwards). The 6L does have a manual pressure cook setting.

One other thing I like about Instant Pots though is the metal plate they have on their lid, so you can put a damp towel on it and bring the pressure down faster for a quicker natural release.

    • That valve design is crazy. Our Breville (I think?) has a little button you depress on the handle that pushes the steam vent open.

      The instapot looks good.

Thanks for explaining why you think the Instantpot is better. I have a Philips and it works fine. Haven't had an instant pot so I can't compare. BTW the pressure release on mine is operated via a twisting lever mounted around the outside of the valve, so you don't get blasted with steam when operating it as you had wondered. It does yoghurt very well

    • The Phillips does have low and high slow-cook, and the release value is easy if you use your finger to flick the catch open, no need to put it above the outlet.

    • Yeah sorry, was referring to the 8L Philips as there is no stock on that link of the 6L at the time I posted the comment.
The 8L has no manual setting for slow cook and also does not come with a steel bowl.

  • When you go to the good guys page for the 6L it offers it for $143.

Doesn't come with the stainless bowl though.

  • Does anyone know how or where to get spare sealant valves for these? I have an 8L one which has come loose…

  • +1

Can recommend this. Had the old version for around 5 years. The silicon seal does pearish (after 5 years). Found this replacement for the 6L.

  • Folks, if I want to get a new replacement inner bowl(the black one). I can't stomach that it's almost$40 everywhere I look.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can a spare for cheep cheep please?

BTW, this deal is still active Rn.

    • Try AliExpress, you shoud find an equivalent there. It might take some searching and checking the dimensions though, their search function is really $#!+.

  • This is the same or very similar to the pressure cooker we got from the Good Guys around nine months ago. I think we haggled them to $170 or something without the extra bowl.

This is a very good deal and it's a great pressure cooker and even better as a slow cooker. Bowl is super easy to clean as well.
