Cat Enclosure will it be OK for my cats

Hi l have 3 cats and moving house and will be living in a rental for one year. My cats are used to having lots of space and room to run, My plan is to set up a portable cat enclosure in the backyard thats 1.8 meters tall, 1.8 meters wide and 5.5meters long, they will be spending most of their time up to a year in that enclosure, l am worried they might not be able to adapt to it, is that big enough for them, do you think they might find it hard or will they get used to it

    what did the cats say?

Ohh that's such a long time to be locked up.

Why they can't be roaming inside the house?

I've had 2 cats at the same time and they do only the minimum damage. Then, the weather outdoors may not be good for a year, they will get hot, cold, etc.

My cat wouldn't survive outdoors that long after living only indoors for a long time.

  • 1.8 meter tall, way to short, I’ve seen cats clear fences when stressed or chased. If you can put a roof over it so they can’t jump out. When I was in a rental with my puppies I kept them in something like this until I moved into my own place, something like this should be big enough for your cats?

You can maybe find something bigger if you look. But this held 2 puppies with no drama, they did knock over the water and food bowl a couple times but waterproof bottom so easy to clean!

    • it comes with a roof, its escape proof

      • I think you should be fine. 5.5 meters long is a decent amount of space.

If they have the run of the house as well, this will be fine. Exceptions will be for breeds like Bengals. If, however, you have say, British, then they just need a couch and TV remote….

  • I don’t condone it at all, but i have seen and known some people in third world countries to keep cats and dogs in a cage barely the size of the animal itself.

Its messed up and heart breaking to see.

But the reason I mention it is, 1.8x1.8x5.5 isn’t huge but it’s decent, especially for a cat.

How much running does a cat usually do outside of chasing native fauna? They might like to wonder around but usually they live a pretty sedentary life most of the time.
They might get bored, but it won’t be detrimental to them.

And I assume they will be allowed free roam of the house too? So that’s plenty.

    but 3 cats?
I'd say they will be feral, wet, cold and want to kill OP within a month

If thats all they have, i agree.
But who would leave their cats outside 24/7?

Surely the op allows them free roam of the house too.

      • You would hope so!!!!!

  • THere would be shelter in the enclosure, l would let them in the house also but they would be in the enclsure most of the time

    • It is cruel to leave them most of the time outdoors even with a shelter, specially with Australia's weather.
