International Transaction Fee for Coles Prepaid MasterCard

Hi,
This is more a theoretical question, but if I have a $250 Coles prepaid MasterCard, can I buy something from an international seller for $250 (AUD)? I'm thinking the international transaction fee will be deducted afterwards, leaving the balance of the card in the negative. If so, will there be any problems with this? E.g. being blacklisted/banned in the future from purchasing these in the future.

  • Terms of use does say

You can use your Gift Card to make purchases only up to the Gift Card value. If you attempt a transaction that exceeds the value remaining on the Gift Card, that transaction will be declined.

I guess give it a go and see
Surely the system should be able to determine exchange rates, fees etc - sometimes merchants might place a $1 temp fee too so that might throw your whole plan out of whack

Been there, done that. Goes negative when the fees is eventually posted.

    • OK, well I tried at an overseas site and it didn't work.
Then I noticed this information for the giftcards.com.au card:
"Enjoy using your Card to shop at any online merchant within the Australia everywhere Visa debit cards or Debit Mastercard are accepted, as applicable."
Not sure if it's the same for the physical coles mastercard.
