Conveyancer in Sydney Area

Hi,
I am a first-home buyer and I am dipping my feet in the jungle of house buying. I am currently waiting for my pre-approval. I understand I will need a conveyancer to review any offer for sale I should manage to get (if any) and deal with all the important paperwork which will be produced along the way. I would like to ask for recommendation based upon the community's experience and what price should I expect for the whole process from zero to keys in hand.

thanks

Im also on a lookout for a conveyancer aswell

    • Yeah, mine only charges if you actually buy/win auction. Thought that was the norm?

      • What about private treaty sales?

And no thats not the norm, not for me anyway. I already spent $550 for 1 contract review from a solicitor

          Solicitor != Conveyancer

          • @SBOB: Solicitor can do the work of a conveyancer

  • Are you going through a broker?

They may suggest their own conveyancer or a solicitor to ease some stress on your end. My broker organised it all from mortgage, solicitor and building inspection reports.

And probably received a kickback from all of them.

      • Most likely but I don't mind, I saved so much time not looking and researching.

  • As many free contract reviews as you'd like, and competitive rates overall:

Mention to Ameer that Bobby referred you and he'll take the best care of you.

  • Learn to go through yourself so you have a rough idea of what to be aware of. And get a conveyancer who gives the first 3-5 reviews free.

    • Where do you learn?

  • I suggest that you get one from the area you are buying the property.

Conveyancers and solicitors from close suburbs tend to know each other well and it can help when there is sticky points of the contract such as trust fund fees.

Also lots of them know the suburb histories , council requirements etc.

Also dont pick the cheapest one.

    • Conveyancers and solicitors from close suburbs tend to know each other well

This sounds like an opportunity for them to collude

  • In principle conveyancing should be straightforward, if everything goes smoothly.
When we bought in Sydney, I got a few quotes and uncharacteristically went with the most expensive quote, which for for a solicitor who specialised in Property & Conveyancing.
It paid off, because the vendors and their solicitor were muppets.
So, the question is, do you feel lucky, punk?

  • Plenty of great wisdom coming from all of you guys. Will organize myself according to the advice received here. Now another question.. Would it make sense to try to link this problem to property finding that is gettijg a buyer's agent that also organizer for contract side?
