Cheap Modem for TPG FTTP to Use The $100 Credit

I'm looking at trying out TPG with their $250 bonus credit and free upgrade to FTTP but will need a modem.
I figured Id be best off using their offer of $100 credit to supply my own modem so I'm not locked in at all.
Any suggestions on what a good option would be?
I do have a vx420-g2h not in use from when we had VDSL2 a few years ago but I'm not sure if it will work with NBN.

With FTTP, the modem is provided by NBN. You just need a router.
Any old one will do, maybe an old ADSL model, as long as it has a WAN port.

    The vx420-g2h looks good.

    but will need a modem.

    Why?

NBN supply the FTTP modem for free.

  • No, you both must be wrong, because TPG itself says so on its own web site promoting this offer. And I quote "High-speed compatible modem required". TPG wouldn't make a mistake like telling people they need a high speed modem, when they don't, they only need a router. Would it? If you can't rely on your ISP to tell you what to need to use their product, who can you rely on?
