As the title says, get the 1982 version and the remake both in blu-ray for less than $11
£6.99 with sendit, seems like they're still doing free delivery on most items too which makes it a quid cheaper than their sister companies Zavvi/Hut. And over $7 cheaper than amazon.

It is a rough diamond. Very good film if a little bad here and there. Unfortunately the original is a tough act to follow and people compare too harshly.
A good movie, but the Kurt Russell/John Carpenter version is technically not 'the original'. It too was a remake of 'The Thing from Another World'(aka The Thing in some parts of this world), an absolute classic from 1951. They really should have thrown that in instead of the 2011 version imho.

Its meant to be a prequel but the plot is exactly the same except the movie itself is 10x worse
I think you are being generous. I would say 100 times worse. Having a female lead was just ridiculous. The original is 30 years old, but the special effects still hold up in this age of CGI effects.
