Probably only useful if it can pick up the inevitable broken glass after an outdoor party. Otherwise I'd just use a good leaf blower and then pick it up

    • +6

      Leaf blower the glass? (o_o)

      (^_-)

      • Otherwise?

        • Otherwise?

          No more parties. Sad.

      • No, the ozito I can only see being useful for glass. The blower vac is good for everything else

    • Ryobi brushless 36v blower/vac all the way

Inb4 next forum post about annoying garden vacuum users

    • +1

HAH! I thought about this thread immediately too!

      • +1

isn't this this the considerate version of a leaf blower though?

        • @Barry frm EastEnders

        • *"less inconsiderate". Considerate would be rake / broom

    • +2

Is it not normal for a husband and wife to have blower vs vacuum duels in the front yard?

      • +7

Something best left for the bedroom

        • Not just bedroom, it can be everywhere, as long as it is safe

  • +3

Now that's a nice change from all those shitty leaf blowers. That are, BTW, banned in some countries, as they create more problems than they solve, esp. in urban areas.

  • Another yard tool. Do we need it?
What happened to the blower & vacuum models that exist. The one I have does mulch a bit.
Cheaper than most shed vacuum's, hmm.. Yeah we gotta get a bigger shed for all the different yard tools. Thus we need a vacuum too.

Didn't know these existed until today.

    Thanks OP, hope it sucks

  • Are these things any good?

    These suck-diddly-uck.

I got given one from someone that didnt use it, used it once, realised how much of a PITA they are, and then proceeded to give it away to the next sucker a friend.

Terrible at vacuuming stuff up, but great at dropping shit everywhere when you try and empty the little catcher they have provided.

Get a wet-dry vac if you need to vacuum up stuff outdoors. Atleast they work and have a drum that is a lot easier to clean out than this contraption.

    • did you try adjusting the wheels so that the suction mouthpiece is closer to the ground?

      • +2

Any closer and I may as well have used the dyson in the backyard.

Then when you add the cord in - no way. Not worth the hassle. Thought it would be good around the pool area - worse.

    • +2

Super useful comment, I get tons of leaves and pine swords and shit from neighbouring trees, and the mower clippings, I’ve dreamt of a contraption like this clearing up - so good to know it’s not worth it.

    • My experience was exactly the same as your description, donbot … Exactly the same.

  • If it was battery powered maybe, but I don't want to deal with an extension lead across all the trees and shrubs.

    • +2

But if it was battery powered then it's gonna be even more piss weak.

Edit: just watched the video on the product page and it looks weak af

If intended purpose is for picking up stuff off lawn only, your rotary mower would do a better job

    • +1

Says it works on paved surfaces, I guess it might be useful on synthetic grass?

  • +3

    Why does this exist?
I just run the lawn mower on top of the grass to pick up and mulch the leaves

    • +2

I do this too! I may take things a step further though, I whipper snip first, then use the mower to pick up all the mess from the footpaths, gutters, etc… then start mowing.

    • +1

Lawn mower still sends some leaves bits flying around if mowing on pavements to pick up leaves.

      • +1

At this stage you grab the blower not forgetting to rev it a dozen times before you start

        • I have the Ozito blower sucker combo for 50 bux, does a decent job.

    • +1

ah, you clearly dont live in a retiree heavy area. They mow the lawn each morning and then clean the lawn in the afternoon; after all that leaf might result in a broken hip or - worse - having to speak to their wife.

  • They're mediocre at best. Bought one used for $40 with a broken bag. Spent $20 for a new bag, used it a few times, decided it's no good (worse than an XU1 corded blower vac) then sold it for $80.

  • Perfect for the Batchelor pad

  • Would consider something like this, have an oak tree that’s gotta be 30m tall that has begun the annual leave shed, keeps me busy easy weekend
    But that video isn’t inspiring.
Typically use blower and pick up the piles (don’t want anyone associating me with the forum post a few weeks back). Tried the mower but have to empty the basket way too regularly. Don’t own a blower/vacuum double but assume bag size also a problem. Gunna research alternative lawn vacuums after seeing this 👍🏻 could even live with a corded version

    • +1

If you have piles of leaves lay a tarp on the ground and rake or blow the leaves onto it and fold it up. That's how the pros do it.

  • Getting one for my hair dressing salon to use after each cut….hope the clients don't mind the noise 📢

  • +3

I've got one of these. Tbh they're not particularly good and you will sometimes need multiple passes over something before it finally gets sucked up. The nozzle can't really be adjusted low enough to the ground. I also have an old non-Ozito garden vac and tbh the old one works way better. Also the bag that comes with the Ozito is flimsy and known for being prone to rips and tears. Lastly the Ozito is 1600w and my old one is 720w and the old one sucks better.

  • I had one of these (Victa Vac) when they first came out 30 years ago or whatever, and used it about twice. It's about 10 times as slow as just using a rake on grass, and probably even more so as compared to a leaf blower and broom on concrete. And that's before you try to empty the bag and get covered in dust!

  • 1600w is a sad joke for an outdoor vacuum
A good indoor vac is around 2000w
    Need something like 4500w
    Junk

  • It cannot suck coco palm fruits then I won't buy one

  • Back to $199 so expired I assume.
