What Travel SSD Hard Drives Do People Recommend

I’m travelling later this year and would like an SSD drive to take with me for my iPad and iPhone 15 Pro offloads. Probably 2TB. What are people recommending. Price is important but mainly reliability.

    Will you have occasional access to WiFi?

    If so, just use a cloud service.

      I’d rather not depend on the cloud if possible. Maybe a combination of both.

    If you wanted more capacity, then get an enclosure and a m.2 SSD.

    I'd probably look at a rugged type enclosure for traveling. Something like this:

    How are you going to back up your easily-lost SSD?

    Price is important but mainly reliability.

    Pretty much… anything that is not some dodgy Aliexpress special. And even loads of those will be fine for occasional use.

    These are not like the old hard drives that would break if you dropped them. The NAND will be made by one of a very small handful of companies, the controllers are pretty much the same situation. The only thing to worry about breaking might be the USB-C connectors if you put pressure on the cable the wrong way.

        … that's frankly a far more practical criteria than worrying about specific brand :D

        (I buy red USB-C travel cables to avoid losing them.)

    How do you offload from iPhone/ipad directly to ssd? Can you directly plug usb-c storage into newer iOS models and transfer files?
