What Is Everyone's Current "Go to" Gaming Monitor?

Hey fellow Ozbargainers,

Feels like forever ago I got the Dell S2721DGF as it was recommended on here so much and wondered what the new "best monitor". Ideally 27" cause I can't fit anything bigger, 144hz or higher and 1440p.

Thanks for anyone's input and real world experience with monitors

Do you steer using the rotary button on the monitor? COOL

      Test Drive!

      In CGA!

  • I do recommend Dell monitors. The colour and quality are just spot on.

Alienware 3423DW. Been rock solid for several years now.

I have been using Xiaomi Mi 34" 144Hz 2K WQHD for a few years now and it is fine. First ultrawide and I can't imagine going back.
My wife uses a Dell ultrawide and that thing is a lot nicer than my Xiaomi - better depth of colour and overall build quality.

    • I've always been curious about Xiaomi monitors. Glad to hear they aren't the absolute worst. Most of their other products are pretty solid imo

I'd say it's a great monitor for a majority of people who play pc games and don't take it too competitively. If you are even slightly nitpicky about display quality however I wouldn't recommend it; the monitor suffers from terrible smearing at high refresh rates. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hMAw8xCd0Y

  • I have the Alienware AW3423DW. It is a great monitor, but I regret not buying 2 x 27" monitors. The ultrawide is an amazing, immersive setup but I'd also like a better setup for working from home and general multitasking (eg game one monitor, youtube the other). So in that vein, I'd recommend the Dell G2724D. They are a good monitor with an easy to deal with warranty process through Dell.

  • My current go to is the Acer KG271 which seems like it was last sold in October 2022.

  • Samsung Odyssey OLED G9

If you want something similar to the Alienware AW3423DW, then Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (which ever is cheaper, they use the same panel)

If you can afford it, go OLED. You won't regret it and you won't look back.
