Thanks TA. Cracking price. Happy Easter to you as well mate.

  • Im looking for a wireless controller for xbox one, does this work?

  • +3

yea good price. paid this much for a flashy colored one which was amazon warehouse stock, there was nothing wrong with it btw.
used it for 2 years now with zero issues. no stick drift but maybe Im not a hardcore gamer.

heres the link to how to permanently fix the sticky trigger issue when it happens: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15087252/redir

  • already have one of these but looking to get a backup, anyone know how the 8bitdo's are compared to these? mainly looking to use them for PC

    • +1

other than the occasional stick drift issue these console controllers (PS,XB) are a step up to 8bitdo imo. they have had many generations of consoles to design and improve their controllers. (worth mentioning here the one in the deal has a sticky trigger issue what happens if you hold down the trigger hard for long periods such as in racing games - its easy to permanently fix I linked to it above but yeah most people will probably complain and return it)

especially this xbox one, you might think it feels a bit cheap in the plastic but it's thick and you can tell it's very tough hard plastic. designed to survive rage quitting and being sat on when it's left on the couch.

also some 8bitdo's have non replaceable battery, so when it dies its harder to change it.

I found the latest XB controllers and PS5 DualSense controllers less long lasting than their previous gen ones. I now have 2 consecutive XB controllers where they have 1 iffy button (one of them started having this issue after a few months, another one has the issue since the beginning). My DualSense controller also have a few buttons which make a minor squeaky sound at times. They feel more like consumables now.

For retro gaming, I am not certain these controllers are the best (compared to 8bitdo). I am somewhat tempted to get another one of these controllers, not because I like them, but more I want another backup since I know the one I am using now won't last very long before something plays up). I still have my old controller from XBox One X.

        Occasional stick drift issue… that's sugar-coating it.

        • you could be right. sometimes the new ones have issues the previous ones didnt have. which is why I mention the sticky trigger issue and how to fix it. taking it apart and looking at the thin thin piece of adhesive foam thats stuck on it was obvious to me why it gets smushed out of the way and exposes the adhesive underneath causes the trigger to get sticky.

with barely any skill though I was able to permanently fix it. the only change is it is slightly louder when you pull the trigger hard all the way, but if you really wanted to reduce the sound you could put your own larger piece of adhesive felt on that area (just make sure the actual thickness is similar to the original).

honestly I dont know what happens to all the xbox controllers that probably get returned to amazon I think they junk them because nobody at amazon is going to beopening them up and reapplying the felt to resell.

          Occasional stick drift issue… that's sugar-coating it.

Ive had mine for a long time. no stick drift.

For retro gaming, I am not certain these controllers are the best (compared to 8bitdo).

sorry I dont know what you mean exactly. but I just use mine to game on ipad. one of the reasons I went with xbox because they are built tough (except for sticky trigger foam flaw) and they were in 2nd place for bluetooth latency. PS5 controller was number 1 (best) for bluetooth latency (weirdly measured latency is better via bluetooth than it is wired) but it was also $20 $30 more expensive at the time.

sony bluetooth speakers also are the best when it comes to latency. they are the only ones to consider if you plan to use them to watch movies etc. they must have some secret bluetooth sauce.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: 8bitdo fit the aesthetic more for retro gaming, have the two thumbsticks side by side, and have the A, B, X, Y buttons mapped to mimic that of the SNES controller. I'm sure there's other points but that's just my two cents

            • @CrispyChrispy: ok fair enough. just my general experience with this controller for bluetooth gaming which is what I assume most people will be buying the cheapest console controller for.

I was looking at this xbox, or this 8bitdo which was a bit cheaper https://www.amazon.com.au/Ultimate-Bluetooth-Controller-Cont…
that 8bitdo one doesn't have replaceable battery, bit thinner softer feeling plastic and dont think its joystick will survive being sat on. 8bitdo runtime is roughly 18 hours compared to 30 hours of xbox on AA's. so for me xbox was the better choice.

if you have either xbox/PS console I guess you dont have any choice. 😂

  • how do you tell if this one has the wireless dongle or not ?

    • +4

it doesnt. the one that includes the dongle is called something else in the title. cant remember.

wireless adapter for windows I think its called. here https://www.amazon.com.au/Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Adapter/d…
it's only for that option btw, if you click a different color you dont get the dongle.

    • +1

if you are thinking PC, just note if your motherboard has bluetooth you wont need the dongle

  • Only black?

    • usually posts are always for one or a few colors. we were spoiled in the last post with almost every color. price was $8 more though.

  • 54+29 (for official Microsoft battery pack) 83 bucks not bad

    • what is the battery pack for?

      • +4

if you want to have the convenience of just plugging in USB-C to charge.

otherwise the controller also runs on two AA's. I just cycle a pair of eneloop pro's.

  • They have a cheap core controller too..

    • the one in this deal was known as the core controller when i bought it btw. I think they changed the name.

so that $200 one is known as Series 2 core.

    Work well with PC?

    • -1

Yes, if your PC has bluetooth

      • +1

        USB doesn't require Bluetooth.

        • +1

yea and fyi you dont need batteries either if you use wired via usb-c

  • Does anyone know if this works with Xbox360?

  • Hell yeah

  • +1

This model doesn't work with tesla directly. Neighbour used mine for his model y and said didn't work. Be cautious

    • Thanks, I was about to ask. Just want to confirm, is that a 2023+ model y?

      • +1

Tesla only support controller that support Bluetooth classic. So my neighbour told ps4 and above work.
No clue about his car model, he bought it 2022.

        • +1

          What's 'bluetooth classic'?

This xbox controller (with the middle button) has bluetooth. You have to double tap the sync button to switch between bluetooth and xbox wireless.

          • +1

            @GreenLego: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles#Human_Interface_Device_Profile_(HID)

  • Why there are never cheap ps4 controllers!

    • +1

My hands used to cramp up on those controllers, far too small for people with large hands

      • yeah! I forgot this was another reason I went with xbox controller.

the part that goes into your palm also seems smaller on ps controller and the overall size/thickness of the controller was too small on the ps controller. just from holding it for a few seconds I could tell it was uncomfortable.

xbox seems better and more ergonomic imo.

  • do these work with Apple TV?

    • Yep

  • Thanks for this, just grabbed one. The A button on my current Series X controller, which I've had since launch, has started to occasionally not register presses. So only lasted around 3.5 yrs…

  • +1

    Will this work with iPad?

    • Yes, I played Rocket League on my iPad with this controller.

    • yes I have been using it with iPad.

  • Does anyone have issues with high battery consumption on the Xbox Series controllers? I used to go weeks on the Eneloops without recharging, but with the Series controllers, I'd only get 1 day before the batteries are completely flat. It even uses the battery when the controller is off and the console is off, like I check to see that the battery power is 'Medium' before finishing for the night, and then the next morning, there is no power in the batteries and the controller won't even turn on.

This happens to both of the 2 Series controllers that I have. I eventually had to buy the Play & Charge kit so that I'm not switching out batteries every day.

    • no never experienced draining over night im using them with bluetooth to ipad though.
maybe your xbox is trying to update controller firmware and its failing and restarting over and over??

my suggestion is take eneloops out ( instructions somewhere say you have to take them AA's out before you plug usb-c), install xbox accessories app on Windows PC, then plug your controller in and try to update firmware that way. this is how I updated my firmware. might fix it I duno.

    • Me either man, been using the same rechargable Duracell AAs for about 4 years on my One then Series X. Still goes ages.

Now my backup Energizers on the other hand, lucky to get a couple of good sessions out of them. :/
