Looking for our first cruise holiday in Oct-Nov 2024.

What have you found so far?

  • Kids under 12 - I'd look at Royal Caribbean.

Try cruise critic and cruise guru for searches.

Might be pushing it for October as the boats wont be down yet (Ill check)

    Quick search - https://www.cruisecritic.com.au/find-a-cruise?depcity=221&cl…

RCI ships get to Australia 1 Nov

  • Where are going to cruise to in 2 days? Wollongong then head back?

Did a 3 night cruise out of Brisbane, they don't go anywhere specific, just head out to sea and then follow the best weather conditions, then come back.

  • CruiseGuru suggests there are only 7 itineraries that meet your criteria - 2 on P&O, 4 on Carnival, 1 on RC. Pick the date and price which suits.

FWIW all except one go to nowhere, while the outlier goes one way to Brisbane.

If you can expand to 4N or more, you can at least get some which go to Moreton Island or Hobart and back.

  • 4D/3N you will only be looking at a comedy/theme cruise. Have done a couple of these and they are fun, but not as fun as reaching a destination and going ashore.

If you can extend a day, I would do the 4N cruise to Moreton Island.

P&O will be the cheapest option by far. I have done a few P&O cruises and have always had a great time. Don't listen to the negativity, especially if it is your first cruise, you will have nothing to compare it to anyway :)

Get a balcony room if you can afford it.

The kids club is great. The kids are occupied all day, they are only returned to you for lunch and dinner. We would often be in bed when ours would return to the room at 12am haha. You have the option of whether they can sign themselves out, or if you need to go and collect them.

If there are 4 of you then the room will probably be 2 x bunk beds - don't expect a romantic holiday with your partner!
