JB Hi-Fi Online Poor Customer Service

First time posting, long time lurking…

I'm wondering if anyone has had similar experience with purchasing with JB Hi-Fi online…

A couple of weeks ago I phoned JB to get a price match with Officeworks on an Apple Studio Display. The JB team member was happy to match the 10% off but said my local store (Tweed Heads South) had no stock for pickup but the display was available online for immediate delivery. I proceeded with the purchase as the cost for delivery was only $14.95 and my local store is an 1 hour away from where I live.

When I got the order confirmation, it said a delivery date of Fri 3rd May (6 weeks from date of purchase). I enquired through JB chat as to why the wait and was advised the item was on backorder. Not impressed, I mentioned that I was told the display was in stock at time of purchase and I required it for work.

The JB chat rep promised she could secure stock from a JB store and would arrange dispatch the next business day but needed a bit of time to sort it out. A followup email from her confirming all that was discussed was promised for later that day (email never came).

A couple of days on, I again contacted JB online chat as to the status of my delivery and why I never received my followup email. Was told JB online was waiting for a response from the closest store showing available stock of the display (JB Hi-Fi Nowra). When I asked for a timeframe to this response, I was advised between another 24-48hrs for JB online to hear back from the store. When asking why JB online can't just pickup the phone and talk to the store, I was told they don't have the ability. After my online chat, I called the Nowra store to enquire about the availability of the display. The manager (apologetic) said they only had a floor stock unit.

3 days on I received an email from JB Hi-Fi online stating that JB Norwa had got back to them and there is no stock at JB Hi-Fi Nowra and my delivery estimate for the Apple Studio Display is 3rd May 2024.

Just over a week ago, I put in a written complaint on the JB Hi-Fi site about my purchase. I haven't gotten a response even though the site says you'll get a response between 3-5 business day.

As of today (6/4/24), I can purchase an Apple Studio Display on the JB Hi-Fi website with a delivery date of 11th April? HOW?

Should I just cancel my purchase and shop elsewhere. Part payment was made with JB gift cards and nowhere has the 10% the Apple Studio Display currently.

    I knew gift cards were going to be mentioned somewhere.

    Just disappointed I had to read the whole thread to find it.

    I had a similar experience on a tablet but it was positive.
    Price matched in a chat, I put through order.
    I was phoned by the store to tell me they only had display stock, they had checked other stores and gave me options of where else to pick up or cancel order. I choose another store.
    They phoned the other store, confirmed stock and then called me back, transfered the order to that store for collection all within an hour of ordering.
    The staff member was helpful and apologetic that their stock list was incorrect.

    • Instore has always been great for me. Will be avoiding their online store in the future.
