Mobile data plan - less than 1Gb/month

I am looking for options for a data service of 0.5-1Gb/month. It looks like the Lebara standard plan and purchasing the $5 data add on of 1GB for 28 days might be th most cost effective option but the add ons need to be manually purchased to avoid using data at the higher casual rate. Are there other options for $50-$60/year or less? Don’t need calls or SMS but open to either a voice or data only plan.

Flip $4/Month with 500MB/Month or their $9.90 plan with 3GB
Alternatively Dodo with 2GB/Month (slower speeds after all is used) for $10/Month. A bit more but has no excess data charges
Have a look around the OzB Prepaid Mobile Plans and Postpaid Plans

    • Thanks. I had see the flip options - more expensive than the Lebara data packs based on $/Gb but have the advantage of not needing to buy the add on every 28 days

      • Does your device have an eSIM?

        • No eSIM - older tablet that is mainly on wifi

      • $/GB is only of meaning if you're actually using it. How much do you actually use?

Nice thing about Flip is its monthly as well, not 28 days. So $48 a year instead of $65 for Lebara (13*$5).

        • That’s true - from that perspective Flip’s monthly billing is good.

          • @jm_928: I checked again and the data packs expire in 30 days rather than 28 so its not so bad (only lose 5 days in a year) compared to a monthly offer.

This equates to $8.25 per month -

Catch Connect 60GB 365 Days Prepaid Plan $99

    • That’s a good option if more data is needed.

      • I was looking at it from a cost per month basis. Did you find something cheaper?

        • Yes - Lebara do a $5/1Gb data add on with 28 day expiry. So works out to just over $5/month.

@jm_928: Add on to what though or is it just $5 per 28 days?

FYI - 28 days isn't a month. They do this so they get another payment out of a year (13 instead of 12).

            • @WatchNerd: It’s an add on to their standard plan. Minimum recharge is $20/year and this credit is available to purchase the data add ons. Valid point that 28 day expiry means that they charge for 13 periods in a year I.e $65.
