Alldocube iPlay Mini 50 Pro - Touch Input Stops after a While

Bought one of these https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/795159 and initially I rated it quite highly.

However in the past 2 months, the screen just stops responding to touch input. I've uploaded a video here https://youtube.com/shorts/tFsB1RWRNFc?feature=share where it is responding a little bit, but sometimes it doesnt respond at all. It works again after locking and unlocking but since my kid is using it, that gets a little annoying. I've tried googling but only found 1 other person but no resolution https://www.alldocube.com/en/forums/topic/10087/

I have tried contacting seller who asked me to factory reset. After reset, the problem seems even worse. They've asked me to send it back but obviously I prefer not to.

Don't mind paying for a fix since I have Merchandise Protection but this seems to be software issues? Any ideas on what I can try.

Thanks

  • give the screen a good clean?

    • It's pretty clean, and it works again immediately after unlocking

    • I've had similar issue with the touchscreen but this was because my 3 year old throws the tablet whenever the allocated time runs out on the Google Kids Space.

As I've run a bit of tech repair gig when I was a student, this bit of advice is only a option for you to try at your own risk:
      1. Normally this is a sensitiser related issue. Unless you replace the screen&sensitiser (or just the sensitiser if you know what you are doing and have the tools and the time) you won't ever permanently fix the issue
      2. I had an issue with my kids device recently. I used a heat gun and ran it over the bezel (take care not to blow over the screen) until the screen starts to lift off.
      3. Once the bezel starts to lift, place a flat heavy object that is larger than the screen (for me this was a 600 page text) on top of the glass side of the tablet. Leave to cool and dry for about an hour. This should fix the issue if the sensitiser had lifted or become agitated.
If not you may just have to replace the screen.
