Skoda Demo Sales

Skoda demo sales, anyone purchased recently?

What kind of discounts off the advertised prices have people seen? Looking at 22 or 23 demos, not fully decided on a model yet tbh

Not particularly interested in that 0.9% finance and in VIC if that helps

Comments

  • Any links? And are Skodas relatively reliable and easy/cheap to maintain and service? Or should I stick with Toyota?

Have not owned one before, family members have. They're bang for buck in a lot of segments. Don't sell particularly well in Aus and seem underrated.

Running costs are not too bad, service packages up front seem reasonable, (need 95 fuel etc), 7 year warranty on some of the new stuff iirc 23 onwards.

In 2023, they weren't in the top 20 manufacturers by sales.

Remember, they're VW's - so drive it 5 years and ditch it with 2 years warranty left for the next person.

Pretty much this in a nutshell.

Plastics and engines that are designed for -20 to 25 degrees not 0 to 45 degrees.

Disintegrate and tend to degrade a lot faster here.

        Get an EV

      • Will avoid them at all costs then. Thanks for the warning.

  • I'll rather buy a Tesla than Skoda for 50k+ price range. Pays itself off cause of charging savings and service savings in longer run with possibility of going self driving

    • Tend to agree, however full EV may not suit my situation

So does full EV suit or not? Youre the only one that knows.

        • It doesn't currently, but agree that if it did then EV is a reasonable 5 year choice

with possibility of going self driving

That's been "next year" for the last…10? won't happen from tesla.

    Skoda is essentially a VW.

I have a VW & a Nissan. Nissan went 13 years before any major repairs needed. VW needs repairs every 2 years.

I’ll only buy Japanese or Korean going forward

    • This is the way.

are they even selling demos without that finance option?

Honestly if you can get 0.9% in the current market (BMW is doing like 6% and the lowest I've seen is Cupra at 3%) then that's not a bad deal.

    • Probably not a bad option, I know it's max 36 months, not sure about the other t and c's

Also means no discounts for those

      Would take 0.9%. Easy money!

It's funny to see all these armchair experts dishing out expert advice on a car they never owned and have no idea about.

    • Definitely, I think they are underrated.

Happy to buy at a discount and also get something different

    • They aren't armchair experts, they are Toyota owners.

Partner’s got a Kamiq Monte Carlo and it’s been ace. I sorely wanted an Octavia RS Wagon, but ended up with a boring Hyundai SUV and regret it every time I pass one… which isn’t often. Buy the service pack and go for it man!
