Hey Guys,

The Big LAN is back in Mitcham, Victoria! It's two weeks before you'll see us at Dreamhack and there's no better way to get some practice in.

We're also bringing back all your favourite AFK activities like the Lego Building Station, Art Corner, VR machine, and Paper Aeroplanes. And we'll also be trying out some drone racing this time.

Date: April 13th, 2024
Location: Mitcham Baptist Church (8-12 Simla St, Mitcham) with free parking available
Time: 10AM - 10PM
Cost: $20 - Console/AFK | $30 - BYO PC ($18.05/$27.05 with discount code)

  • man, I was gonna say i wish they did this in WA, but reading into it its one weird event.

but then… LAN parties can never really be what they used to be can they… the games are so different now.

    • I second that motion….. not the same

      • you could probably run a decent LAN party with say Minecraft, Valheim, Terraria, 7 Days to Die run on some servers.

but none of that is the twitch games of the past… and I'd like to think that there would be a good twitch shooter alternative thats fairly modern. but I cant think any atm.

    • Oh please tell. What makes it weird?

its a combination of things. its very cheap, its 18+ only yet no drinks (ok given the venue, this is actually not surprising) . then you have lego and paper airplane making and an art corner….

it aint no LAN party like i remember :-P

Gives it a very "churchy" feel to me.

        • +1

I've been to many, there's no weirdness to speak of. No churchy vibes, the venue doesn't look like a church at all, it's just a cheap venue/community centre type thing. No alcohol is due to the venue.

If by weird you mean it's not a grungy, sweaty 2000s LAN party that goes out of control, well that's not the vibe they're going for. Which works for me, times have changed.

            @BrokeCamel: haha
never went to one that got "out of control" but yeah. times have changed.

My early LAN parties were back in the coax networking days :-P

            • @senectus: Yeah me too, or an interwebs cafe. Never went to a proper one. In hindsight I probably should have.

  • Honestly an awesome price for a full day of entertainment.
