Best Remote Play Device for PS5

I can't justify the price of the PS portal however I do like the size of the screen and am looking something similar.

I don't want to go down the backbone route purely because the size (I'd prefer to use a larger screen). Has any used this or something similar with the PS remote play.

Thanks.

  • How big/old is your phone? You could buy one with a larger OLED screen. Backbone is decent quality assuming your phone and camera bump even fits.

  • I got an Odin 2 mainly for Remote Play, but it also does emulation up to the Wii, and can run Yuzu for some Switch games. A little expensive but feels great. Massive battery life. Screen's a little small though.

    • Ps remote play work on this?

Very well. 60fps 1080p with very rare lagging. Depends on your wifi too of course. Also I bought PS Play for the customisability. Terrific app, much better than the Sony one.

I set the two back buttons of the Odin to be the touchpad press (when pressed together). Don't have to take a hand off the grips or reach a thumb out to hit the on-screen touchpad, although you can do that too.

        • Where did you pick yours up… Do you find the 6 inch screen limiting?

          • +1

@Jfi2ee: Sadly it can only be ordered from Ayn's site and shipped from China. It's close to double the price of the Portal so you'd have to be into its other features to justify it! The screen is just big enough. A half inch smaller than the Switch's.

I kinda like the look of the device you linked to honestly, and if it works well I would have considered getting that back when I was looking into this myself.

            • @bront: Are you using the Odin for emulator purposes? Having trouble finding decent ROMs

  • I've got a pixel 7 pro but was hoping to use an iPad

    • If you use an ipad you can forget about using clamp style controllers. Too wide and heavy. I would just get a DualSense or DualShock 4 controller.

Has any used this(aliexpress.com) or something similar with the PS remote play.

I do. It's very comfortable but it feels very cheap and it doesn't work with the official Remote Play app.

The Steam Deck OLED is a very nice place to play. Chiaki4deck even supports HDR.

You can also consider the Abxylute.

  • I do this occasionally and works well

Old iPad (or surface pro) + dual sense
