Internet Options for Home Security While Away for a Month

Hi,

I pay $110 a month for a superloop 1gbit FTTH connection. I would like to suspend this as it will be a waste as I'm going away for a month.

What is the best option to use for a month so my wifi security cameras are still active?

Thanks

  • launtel has 1/1 ($1.65/day) and 4/4 ($2.30/day) options, you could always switch to them for the seven day trial a week before you're go away to ensure that the bandwidth is sufficient (you can change up and down speeds at will. if 1/1 or 4/4 don't suit you can go to 100/20 ($3.10/day)). As long as you order 250mbit or slower it can coexist with a superloop 1gbit connection. If you don't have a dual WAN router, you just physically plug/move your WAN port on the router to the second (launtel) connection when you want to use it.

They also have a standby option for 50c/day but that's <100kb/s speed so only good for alerts from your camera, won't be able to view any video.

    Your current plan

Superloop has a 30 day cancellation policy, just fyi. So make sure you do it plenty of time in advance

    • Yes, 100% - OP be careful with this, they are brutal.

Go for the lower speed plan with the same isp

    Lower your speed.

LOL All that hassle to save what? $50!

$50 goes a looong way in SEA

OP's internet however is in Albo's Australia

  • Just lower your plan speed as others have suggested, no point going through the hassle of canceling your internet just for one month, if it was 6 months or 12 months or something that would be another story.

A 25Mbps plan would be fine just for the security cameras to work.

  • thanks guys
