  • Working with Brisbane City Council libraries…

  • Why do we have to log in to see whether our library has access? I don't want to make an account just to find out it's not available

    • They're asking for emails, the more the better.

If you look up your local library, you should be able to find out what digital resources they offer. For example, City of Sydney library members have access to Mango as well as LinkedIn Learning:
      https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/library-information-serv…

Also, if your local library network isn't offering a particular resource, you can often become a member of libraries in other councils for free, which will allow you to access their particular catalogue of digital resources and services at no cost to you

      • Definitely this. I tried once looking it up from the App/site and it wasn't showing Australia at the time (this was quite a while back) only for me to find out its there from the library website.
One thing thats missing from the above too, is that it gives you like an enterprise like account. Which means you can share it with 5 other people I think. Though privacy wise it isn't great (you add their email/password into your account).

Thanks for that. Signed up for the local library and now trying to sign up for mango learning…

    I like mangoes

  • I prefer this over apps like duo lingo which i feel overdoes the gamification stuff. Mango is more simple, to the point, has explanations and better audio. I wish there were more beyond basic conversational stuff for the Chinese courses though.

  • have a City of Melbourne Library account and also a local council one (which uses the spydus domain), have no trouble logging into each on their respective webpage. but YourLibrary (also spydus) doesn't find an account when trying to use either to log in.

    Unsure if I'm missing something…

I'm thick. Title says signup required, dunno why I just assumed my other Vic library accounts would work.

  • Interesting that it has "English (Shakespearean)" and "Pirate" as languages :P

  • I'm trying to find a list of languages can anyone who has signed up provide this? Thanks

  • Really recommend this app, just bear in mind some of the more obscure languages have much shorter courses. still a great tool.

    • Yep saw that as one of the cons for the app but if its free this way. why not
