PSA: Don't Port into Felix Mobile eSIM Now (Activation Issue)

TLDR: read title

11:00: My Boost expired, so I ported to Felix Mobile.
11:15: Received email saying activation and porting complete.

After doing the eSIM steps, I got the dreaded "SOS only" (iPhone).
Reached out to support from the Felix App who knew nothing and thanked me for my patience.
Tried many things, Resetting eSIM, Resetting Network Settings, etc.
Panicked so hard throughout the day, thought I was going to lose my number.

17:18: Got the official notice of the issue in the app, sooooo glad I'm not the only one.

Definitely related to Vodafone's outage yesterday, if only I knew, wouldn't have ported this week, lmao

Should have followed this sim hopping guide and not hop using my main number, F.

Did you lose your number? Or is just a waiting game now?

    • Hopefully not. Waiting now. Too many OTPs I don’t even want to think about it.

Fingers crossed it's just a delay!

      • Hopefully not.

You should never wait until a plan expires if you want to move your number… Too risky.

Would would you even consider porting to Felix (who???)

        • Why would people still port to voda or any mobile company using the Australian voda network.. they have failed in the past due to fast intake of customers but not having the network to support all those customers. They haven't learnt their lesson… They will forever be the poor cousin trying to chase the more reliable network's success.

          • @tabitha731: I use Felix. Never had a single serious problem.

          • @tabitha731: Agree 100%

Those considering Kogan mobile should be made aware that Kogan usues Vodafone network.

I along with my friends and relatives have moved off Kogan plans as they expire.

Mainly because of thier very poor Vodafone coverage outside Sydney.

They couldnt pull thier act together with 3G so how is it going to be any better as theyr refarm thier 3G network to 5G ???
And 5G is useless outside metro areas due to its limited range from transmitter tower

  • Felix is pretty rubbish. Vodafone shut down all their 3G so as soon as you leave the city it goes SOS. Moved to boost and much happier.

    • I couldn’t agree more but no choice. No profitable Boost SIMs yet. Felix happened to be the cheapest monthly with enough data for me.

      • No profitable Boost SIMs

Have they ever offered SIMs where you can make a profit?

I’m pretty sure your number has been released to felix/voda because boost wouldn’t release it into oblivion. And even if it wasn’t transferred, it would have gone to government held number bank for 12 months and they have procedure for retrieving it
