Need a new laptop but also hoping it's somewhat lightweight, mostly for movies and some office work.

Old laptop is getting stuck although its i7 8gb almost 2.4ghz

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a 4K laptop at the $1K mark, consider an iPad or tablet instead?

  I have 4k tv in my room but i still like using my laptop.
  I took 4k out of the title to make it more feasible.

What model is your current laptop?

If it is getting stuck doing these basic tasks then maybe something is not right with it.

  My hunch is the 8GB ram is slowing it down. Whack another 8GB in should help.
