Mini PC Better than Trigkey G4 N100

I've got a trigkey for my daughter and it goes alright for what it's needed for

General PC use
Roblox

However, I am in the market for another one for my son and trying to figure out what options in a similar form factor and price range are out there.

Current Config:

Intel 11th Generation N100 Processor
16gb RAM

Mostly the thing I am trying to improve on is the performance in Roblox, understanding there is limitations in a mini pc / NUC but keen to hear others' opinions

Given this was around $250, if there are suggestions upwards of $4-500 I'd love to hear them.

Is the Ryzen 7 or 5 below going to be significantly better at things like Roblox?

TRIGKEY Mini PC AMD Ryzen 7 5800H(8C/16T, Up to 4.4GHz) 16G DDR4 $482.30
Beelink AMD Ryzen5 5560U Mini PC, (up to 4.0GHz) $423.20

    • Thanks but seems like the CPU config is off and its showing $669.99 for the ryzen 7 model. bit on the higher side price wise

      • It frequently goes on sale, every few weeks.

Also keen to know what's "off" about the configuration?

        • the deal and original specs on the combo was 5800U but the shipped items were the 5700

then after some point the amazon deal was changed to a 5700

  • If you are looking for more grunt these are really good value, I'm using one as a daily desktop and leaving my Ryzen desktop turned off most of the time.

Intel i5 12450h, 4 Performance Cores, 4 Efficiency cores, 8 total physical cores and the P cores are hyper threaded so it has 12 cores in total. I have a Samsung 980 Pro 500GB SSD in it and 64GB of RAM so it's super snappy and responsive.

The GPU may not be as good as AMD Ryzen based minis however so they may outperform the 12450h for gaming but overall I've been very happy with the 12450h.

    • Thanks will take a look, reviews seem a bit dicey though. How long have you had it for?

      • I ordered it in December and the only real complaint I have is the Hardware details all say "Default string" instead of manufacturer and model information. All of these Chinese mini PC's are pretty cheap however, to get a HP or Lenovo mini with a 12500T you're looking at $1000+, about the best ones out there are either NUC's or NUC like devices from the big companies like MSI, ASUS etc, Minisforum devices are pretty good too but all carry premium price tags, and lets face it, we're not in this group because we like paying premiums lol

I see comments in the reviews about the TPM which I can't confirm properly as I run Fedora Linux on mine so have never run Windows 11, but Fedora is showing a TPM available so perhaps that review is not for the same device:
        $ cat /sys/class/tpm/tpm*/device/description
        TPM 2.0 Device

Also some of these reviews are for entirely different products, this happens from time to time on Amazon, the listings get modified so reviews for older or different versions are shown.

If you want me to run any specific benchmarks or anything I can give it a go, I can swap in a Windows 11 SSD to do so.

        • Thanks for the offer bircoe but that is alright for now, appreciate the response though! Will continue researching later this afternoon around the Ryzen CPU and integrated GPU performance too

          • @tyronee: I have a desktop with a Ryzen 5800G and its a really good CPU for the price, I have no experience with any of the low power models however… You can usually find reviews on Youtube of most CPU's, ETA Prime while his content is rinse and repeat and his reviews are always "I think this is a really great thing for the price" he does do a lot of real world test using games and emulators.

    • What's stopping you from making the switch full time?

I went from a 6500T to a 10500T and use it almost always, it does everything I need and I pretty much only use my desktop to render and play games (infrequently). I (on HP) was looking for one with a GTX 1660 but they're sooo rare and costs half an arm.

It's not as much about the money, I just feel like the $2.2K I dropped on the desktop replacemnt to previous was a waste as it's so rarely ever used :-/

Why not just get a normal PC?

    • size and portability are a factor here for the setup and space.

  • Make sure to not use the OS that comes with it.
Some people reported malware being preinstalled.

    • Thanks BigBirdy,

Do you think the 12450h is much better than the n100 performance wise (roblox and other general stuff?)

      • +2

Both those machines would be a significant upgrade on an N100 in all aspects except power consumption, noting all three use relatively low power CPUs.
I'd go with the Trigkey as it's got double the RAM & storage, and reviews suggest it comes with decent quality RAM & storage, vs the Kamrui coming with the cheapest unbranded components. The plus with the Kamrui is price, and internal pictures indicate it has a spare (2nd/3rd) M.2 slot (but it's unmentioned in specs, so who knows if/what it can be used for). Also, other Ozbargainers recommend reinstalling Windows on the Kamrui

    • Specs look good, but I can't see the $545 price?

Trigkey discounted prices finished last night. They will probably offer the same discount again in a week or two, based on past history.

Kamrui also raised their $399 price to $499 last night, but added a $100 off coupon. They also alternate between these offers.
