Recommend Long Pants for The Trades?

Hi, I'm after recommendations for long pants for a tradie, specifically after pants that are a bit loose in the crotch for bending/crouching down that don't feel like they're going to rip as soon as you bend down. Black is preference. tia

I’ve been happy with the pilbara gear for shirts and trousers/jeans. Pretty often on sale at workwearhub

Otherwise I like fxd as well if you want it stylish meets utility

I don’t recommend the Kmart rip offs of the utility work pants, they really rip easy at the crotch (luckily both times I was at home just doing work around the house)

I always go with whatever brand the employer is offering for free.

Kmart/Target do the job for me, mine are over a year old and still in good condition

I have tried a few different work pants and I am pretty die hard FXD now. They are on the pricier end, but in my experience one of the best and worth the price difference. Comfortable material that doesnt chafe and looks/fits great as someone who does quite a bit of bending/squatting in them. Also plenty of pocket action which is a must for some lines of work.

    • Which ones in particular do you wear?

i was wearing thin breathable material like lululemon pants at warehouse workplace, now they are disallowing it … i got sensitive skin eczema…cant wear those hard fabric material which was causing me to sweat and chafing the skin irritating it to flare…

badworkwear the 90bucks pants, uses thin breathable material that i like, going to grab a few pair and just tax write off….

Almost all of mine are FXD. Very comfortable. I have a pair of canvas "Tradies" from Big W, and they're perfectly comfortable but they feel a bit World War II. I have a pair of King Gee's, more for summer as the material is a bit lighter, and they feel OK also. All have strong belt loops as I can't stand draw strings (don't want them getting caught up in power tools).

Thinking about it, I'm so invested in FXDs that I choose my mobile phone and phone cover so they fit snugly into the phone pocket of my FXD pants. Which is quite strange now that I think about it.

I just use body paint. You can use black but don’t use it on your face

  • I knew people wear $10ish jeans and they are ok.

    • Probably depends how attractive you are in the first place. Some people can wear anything and look good.

  • Have a look at the Dunlop pants. I got some of these from OzSale recently and they are great. I got a larger size than what I needed which was good, because they don't get tight. I am happy with them, great zip pockets and the material is nice feeling and protective.
