Not the lowest according to camels, but close enough.

Never had one with Bluetooth, I guess it's for fitness tracking.

Cool watch. I think I paid about $140 for the green one. Never worn it.

Cool watch but unless your budget is $140 the garmin instict watches offer more fitness tracking, rechargeable battery and the same display for ppl considering this. (Unless this watch does everything you want it to then this is perfect).

    • If you don't need fitness tracking, this obviously look better, far better battery life, and less than 1/4 the price (unless you import)

I looked into these a while ago and, whilst I love G-Shocks, the fitness tracking and experience on these are pretty terrible. The smartwatch features are particularly bad as there's no way to filter notifications so every notification gets sent straight to the watch.

      • +1

You can just have the phone filter the notifications. With an iPhone you can just set-up a "focus" to only let certain notifications through.

        • Yep this, i just like the time sync, especially when travelling.

    • The battery on this Casio lasts 2 years.

I went from an Apple Watch to one of these when an Apple Watch was copping wear and tear, and while the features are FAR less, it’s still handy being notified via Bluetooth of notifications, without the need to charge every day.

Long time lurker, learn a lot from all of you πŸ™

  • Does any one know if this could track swimming laps in a pool?

    • I don't think it's waterproof, says "Will withstand accidental splashes but not suitable for swimming.".

      • Oh damn! Lucky you mentioned that, I had previously looked up the GBD-200 and was sure it was OK for swimming.

EDIT: Actually, specs are conflicting and say 200 metres further down. Says can be used for swimming up top, and then not suitable for swimming further down.

    • I have this watch and the answer is no. It tracks steps.

  • Can anyone attest to this as a suitable replacement for notifications? that price is pretty great.. How does it go with battery life running bluetooth? My instinct is getting tired and it looks like I can get a whole new watch for the price of replacement bands which sounds great.

I have this watch and also the GBD200 which is the same watch in a square shape.

Battery life is phenomenal. About 2 years I think. I have have changed my battery once in the GBD100.

The screen is much higher res than your standard G-shock LCD which makes for great viewing but the trade off is the refresh rate is super low at 1Hz, but this helps with battery life. Which is why the stopwatch only has minutes and seconds and nothing more granular than that. They call it a Memory In Pixel (MIP) screen.

The notifications are fine for what they are. They tell you that something is in your phone. Borderline unusable to read the notifications on your watch. You can, but the amount of button clicks and small screen makes it not worth your time.

I have set mine to vibrate on all notifications and beep when I get a call. That way my phone is silent 99% of the time.

The programmable timer functions is not bad and you can individually name them.

The fitness functions are limited as. Mainly onky for running and it will try to use the GPS off your phone connection with variable accuracy. I would not treat this as a reliable fitness watch any more than a regular G-shock.

The other drawback is the CPU us very sluggish. Ok for most functions but it takes literally 12 seconds to go back to main screen after pressing stop on your run timer!

Overall the fact that I bought the round one and then the square one tells you I like it very much, but it definitely isn't for everyone.

Would get this just for the vibration. Have a GD 350 and the vibe is the best part of it.

Set it to 2 minutes, go to the gym. 2 minutes between sets, scroll your phone, wrist vibrates, next set, no need to worry about being a creeper. lol.

I work in a kitchen, most everything revolves around the 2 minute mark so I just set and forget.

Cooking 2 minute noodles in your kitchen isn't a job bro.

      • COol story.

Haha sorry I was in a silly mood when I wrote that.

So how does that work, are you using the countdown timer set at 2 minutes?

          • @WatchNerd: Yep. Set the timer at two minutes.

GD350 - you can activate the timer from the "home" face, very convenient for my needs

GBD100-2D - you have to go timer mode (I went ahead and got the advertised watch because OZbargain.)
