Whats The Go to for a Basic 5V 2amp USB Charger

Just bought a USB switch to replace an old one and it seems for some reason a keyboard, mouse and mic require supplemental power from the included 5V port which is weird because it didnt on the old USB switch from the same manufacturer (UGREEN)

Searching through my whole house somehow I do not have a 5V USB adapter from all the phones I've had so just wondering what is the go to device to buy?

Alot of them seem to have features like super Quick charging etc which I dont need and makes them bloody expensive or they have high amps where I only need 2amps

Can I use one with higher amps without it being an issue?

Dont really want to spend $40 on a USB charger, but also dont want to start a house fire.

You won't need anything fancy for keyboard and mice.

    Yes.

Most PD chargers will perform a handshake with the device to negotiate the charging current (amps). However depending on your USB hub, plugging in things (or unplugging) while the power is on might cause all the devices to drop out momentarily while it re-negotiates the power delivery.

Ikea. Cheap, they have been torn down to show the design is good.

  • I know you said you don't have a appropriate charger from an old phone but you probably do. If you have one with USB output, it will likely just work.

I genuinely have 0 phone chargers around the house. It shocks me because I feel like previously I had 39000 around the house. I guess now since we pay $2000 for phones and receive no chargers with them I've put them all to good use elsewhere.

Keep looking. You must have a basic USB charger somewhere.

  • Any old 5v dumb usb charger will do. It would probably be better than a smart charger which may have an issue getting communication from multiple devices on the hub. $10 from Kmart/bigW etc
