Family member is willing to gift me 100,000 points. In return I am gifting them equivalent gift worth $620. This - on a comparative basis turns out to be 0.62 cents/point. Is this a good exchange of gifts?
Just to clarify I clearly declared cash value for points is worst outcome to use points. They are always better off for J flights. Family member doesn’t care as they have no interest in flying, it’s a gift after all.. that I want to return the favour immediately (thus the $620 offer). Family is the “in laws” in this case.
You offered $620 for 100K points or they offered 100K points and you said I'll spot you $620? A good yield from a member's perspective is $20 per 1,000 points.
