Gaming Laptop Recommendations 1440p 60 FPS - Budget $2,500

Hi guys, I'm chasing some recommendations for a gaming laptop 2.5k budget that can ideally give 1440p 60 FPS on titles like Cyperpunk.

Games like this I want to play locally on the screen. Ray tracing is nice but not critical for me. I will use for work, which is some basic Revit work, but I worry about OLED burn in issues I hear about so maybe just HDR would be okay. I also do sim racing and have a wheel and pedals I need to be able to connect 2x USB slots for those then when sim racing output via either HDMI or DP to 3x external monitors if possible. This would only be for iracing which is less GPU intensive.

Thanks in advance and hope this post has enough info.

  • Hi OP, this one looks good, you would just need to upgrade the RAM for best performance and it's under your $2500 budget - https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-alpha-17-c7v-173-qhd-240hz-…

    • Thank for the recommendation Ema000, im not seeing many in depth reviews out there. Ive noticed the legion i5 seams to be popular on the deals at the moment with the 4060 and they have a 4070 model with a hdr screen.

Is this a better overall laptop then the legion? Noticed this cpu is a beast which is a plus

      • What's the model number of the Legion that you're referring to with the 4070 and HDR screen?

        • This one when you select to build its a $50 upgrade for HDR screen

          • @jasond1986: Ah yes I see what you mean now;

So all up the Lenovo will cost $2634.94 (with the screen upgrade and the 1TB SSD upgrade)

Whereas the MSI will cost $2325 (with $100 discount code INNOVATE)

It's over a $300 difference and the specs are quite similar, so personally I would pick the MSI

  • So this is what Pcmag recommends for 1440p:

    OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 3 3200G
    RAM: 12GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5700 XT
    VRAM: 6GB
    Direct X: Version 12
    Available Storage Space: 70GB SSD

    Hope this helps
