Car Roof Lining - Perth DIY or suggest a business...

All of a sudden, the roof liner on my car started sagging. Apparently this happens around the ten year mark on cars.

I suspected a fix would be to get some spray adhesive with a nozzle and cut a little slit in the liner and spray it around. Apparently there are businesses that remove your liner, scrape off the degraded foam and reglue the lot into place. Apparently this is around $200.

I'd prefer to have it done professionally if it is only $200, but can not seem to find any that offer the service in Perth.

I think boat trimmers might be up for the job. Can anyone else think of what type business would offer this service on a normal basis? I don't some small trader experimenting on my car.

Any recommendations for Perth or anyone with any experience in this sort of repair?

TIA

  • Auto Upholstery places, ask some panel beaters they will point you in the right direction.
I have the same problem on my car

  • I'm interested too, tried doing the spray myself and it only lasted about a month before falling again..and yes, the foam is degraded. Is currently stapled which works surprisingly well :P

    • only lasted about a month

Did you get rid of all the old foam?

  • Remove your liner, scrape off the degraded foam and reglue the lot into place.

Thats what I did. Gently pulled the fabric off, brushed off the perished foam, apply adhesive and stick the fabric back on.
I put the fabric in the front-load washer, which shrunk it a little, but was able to stretch it back in place.

Its either that, or thumb tacks :)
