    • lol, what the hell? I got 2, one for me and my partner, hoping it's not a dud!

You need to do a few charge cycles before the phone battery can register the right charge percentage.. it's best practise to charge fully before using

        • I did. It was fully charged.

However… there were three or four firmware updates during that time, maybe the firmware update caused issues with the battery calibration.

          • @tangcla: Is it a cool phone to use? Are you liking it so far?

            • +1

@ghoulie1: I'm unsure about it, to be honest.
On the one hand, flip phones are just so nostalgic. However, the outer touch screen functionality is kind of useless in that you still have to open the screen to do anything… and the biggest gripe I have, is no always-on display for either the large or the exterior screen.
Here's hoping that third-party solutions come to the party (like CoverScreenOS, which I found promising when I had a Flip3) or Motorola with a future firmware update.
From the Pixel 5 I came from (nearly 4 year old technology), this phone seems to be better in all hardware aspects - processor, storage, RAM, camera. I haven't extensively tested the camera app though, to see how good it is. Size is comparable (not quite the lightweight 150g that the P5 was, but this is much better than the 200+g that the Pixel 7 was, which I sold after a month).

@tangcla: The outer screen is awesome. I swipe left now to see the weather, so handy not to open the phone. Also, easy to see all your notifications, and very easy to use to read them. Use it more, it's bloody brilliant. Also, I put the Moon on my display.

Shake to turn on your flashlight is a game changer.

My biggest problem is we can't change the placements of the 3 buttons on the bottom.

The camera is surprisingly very good. Just as good as my Note 10+, I know it's from 2019, but the quality is good. Not sure about video yet.

And the battery is solid, been using it all day, 72% from 7AM to 5PM with normal/work usage. That's easy all day.

                • @RocketSwitch: Ive been looking for a Razr 40 Utra to get real functionality out of the external screen… ended up caving to buying a Flip5 yesterday.
Coming from a Pixel 5, I'm disappointed with the camera, especially low-light.

@tangcla: There you go. Those firmware updates kill the battery until it adapts.

I purchased mine from Officeworks yesterday and I have mixed feelings about it… I’m just so much into iPhone that every time I buy an android phone I end up going back to my iPhone…
Anyway my question is, can I return it? I used it of course so the box is opened, haven’t touched any of the accessories whatsoever.

      no

      • Not under change of mind but what about faulty?

        • +1

If it's faulty it can be returned but just preferring iPhone and not wanting it isn't a valid reason.

          • -2

@shxhshzhz: Of course I won’t say that to the staff mate

            • +1

@Emilimu: Unless the phone has a fault, there's no reason for Officeworks to allow a refund.

Which store did you buy it from? I am gonna go check the clearance desk for a FURTHER 50%!

    • How many times have you bought an Android phone when "trying" to switch from iPhone? What are you expecting to be different every time you buy one?

      • Too many times, Samsungs, Oppos, Pixels, you name it, Pixels are my favourite android phones because of the stock android, from pixel 2 to 4 with the latter being my favourite despite the battery being rubbish.
As for stock android my favourite is 11, anything above it I absolutely despise and as I said before no matter how many times I always end up returning to my iPhone.
I think the most time I kept an android phone apart from the pixel 4 is the galaxy s23, I really liked that phone but again, after having it for about 5 months I went back to my iPhone.
I think it’s a matter of convenience, everything is always the same with iPhones, every iPhone does exactly the same while androids are different and that ends up being a hassle for me.
An example I can give is yesterday I had to scan a QR code and couldn’t figure out how to do it… had to google and even after doing so I was still puzzled, had to watch 3 different YouTube videos to finally find out. Had to pull down the top bar and select “scan QR code” as with the iPhone it takes less than 5 seconds, pull it out of your pocket, open camera, aim at the code and that’s it.
I could go on and on.

Sounds like you should stick with iPhone once and for all then. I've never had any of the problems you're describing with Android. You probably didn't need to switch back and forth that many times to work out what your preference was!

        • +2

For me it's the other way! I can pretty much find what I need in Android settings. Where as I can't find most things in iOS settings.

Well it seems to have been popular at this price as it appears to be sold out everywhere now.
I guess Motorola was keen to clear stocks before the next Razr 50 comes out.

  • If the ultra goes to this price I'd definitely buy it

    • Lol you and everyone on OzBargain.

My edge fusion 30 stopped charging after 9 months. Don't think I'll risk another Motorola
