ShopBack Data Breach (Emailed Leaked) ?

Hi,
I have a unique email only used to sign up to ShopBack (think me.shopback@gmail.com)
Over the last few days I have received “delivery notification” scam emails to that address.

Has anyone else noticed this? Has there been a new data leak at ShopBack I have missed?

Or is this just someone reusing the old 2020 breach data again maybe.

      Yes I noted the 2020 breach.
      So at this point it’s just someone picking up that previous breach data and using it again.

      I did notice that I have been getting more spams lately - usually I get like 4-5 a day in my spam folder but now every morning when I wake up it is 10+

        Longer you have the email more likely they will randomly figure it out and hit you. It is a bit like banking scams.

        I am with HSBC and they managed to call me and almost got me. I was transferring my money away online while they were giving me the "oh we're going to protect your money blah blah blah"

    It really depends. If say your name is tom.jones@gmail.com they can still reach you with tomjones@gmail.com

    I think they would randomly guess combinations and ones that don't get a bounce they will keep emailing.

      This one is not likely to be guessed.
      It’s on a custom domain and not just simple words :)

    I'm still getting multiple scam emails a day due to the incompetence of shopback.

    Yeah the list was leaked a few years ago and I still get spam/scam emails - in some cases with the email list in the CC' so everyone can see it.

    I did a quick haveibeenpwned on a few of the cc' and it the commonality was Shopback - which is also the only one where mine has been leaked

      Seems like a poorly managed business between this and the mass layoffs and the useless canned responses from the inferior 'gotyourback'.

      In this case, Gyb didn't even bother responding.

    Just got my first SPAM to the email address I only use for shopback. Guess someone is using the old leaked data.

    i was trying to organised my junk email, and found a feature within gmail, you can run a scan to see if your emails is in darkweb
    i was surprised i got a hit and the platform was from Shopback in Nov 2020, far out, and we didnt hear anything from the company what a dodgy practice!!
