Wanted - Chilli Sauce Recipe Like You Would Get at a Hotel/Pub Style Steakhouse

Hi All

Curious if anyone has cracked the chilli sauce recipe lots of pub style steakhouses utilise (e.g. in Brisbane, Breakfast Creek hotel and the Norman hotel)?

It looks somewhat like the following -

It is more smooth 'sauce' like and reasonably mild and nothing like your home-made chutney/relish style.

TIA

  • Is it medium or mild. Looks like masterfoods chilli sauce.
That steak is a little over cooked for me but to each their own.

    • Can confirm from working in non-fancy steakhouses years ago that most of the salad dressings/sauces were just big food service bottles of Masterfoods sauces.

  • Subjective - but I guess it is in the lower end of the medium range. I'm pretty certain it is not masterfoods - but you never know.
That photo too is something I just found on the internet googling those steak pubs above + chilli sauce.

That looks like tomato sauce with a squirt of sriracha sauce. Have you tried that?

Describe the sauce, what does it taste like?

Here is the Chili sauce page in the Bidvest catalogue for Brisbane. Continues on the next page.

Bidvest is the big food service company that supplies many restaurants in Brisbane. If it's the same sauce across two places, chances are they aren't getting it somewhere obscure or blending it themselves, and it's one of the ones on this list.
