AA Eneloop

Hi,

I am looking for 4xAA Sanyo Eneloop battery for my digital camera. The cheapest price so far is $22.99 at Dick Smith. Anyone know where to buy it cheaper ? Or can anyone share their experience with Eneloop battery especially used with digital camera ?

Cheers

  • eBay??

That's where I got my GreenCell's a year ago for about that price delivered.
Eneloop are Sanyo's version of the GreenCell long-life NiCd rechargeables. Check out the other brands here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_self-discharge_NiMH_battery

I have 4x Greencell batteries for my Canon A720 camera and they are the best batteries ever!! You lose a bit of capacity, the biggest capacity NiMH AA's are over 2500mAH now, Greencells are 2000mAH but the ability to have them charged on the shelf so you can grab the camera and run far outweigh the shorter lifespan. They last plenty long enough in my camera, I'd estimate 150 shots at least for 2 AA's. In which case I switch them out for the other pair. I also keep a set of Duracells in case I burn through the rechargeables (Has only happened once on a hike, ie no charger overnight)

Definitely get these rechargeables over any others. Except for Remote Control cars (which need as much capacity as possible, these are easily the best option.

  • They Cost me $18.51 direct from the wholesaler lol so 23 dollars isnt much of a markup lol

  • You can buy it from Servaas. Their prices are cheap and are even cheaper with the Whirlpool discount.

But if you're only buying 4 batteries, just buy it at Dick Smith so you don't have to pay postage.

    • how about sharing the wealth here - searched whirlpool and could find no reference to servaas or discount. Their site looks interesting

      Thanks

  • I always hear good things about eneloop. I use my camera no more than twice a week, few shots only. I think low-self-discharge battery like eneloop suits my need.

    • I have them in mine and they work well. Only use camera every month or so and these still have reasonable charge after being put in and used monthly since June this year. Whereas my older nimh batteries would often only get 10-20 shots if left in for 4-5 months. Very happy with them

      • Mine Ni-MH Fujufilm only last for a month without any shot :(
Now I should consider these low discharge batteries.

  • Varta = Cheap low self discharge from BIG W and other stores.
Last time I saw the charger with 4 batteries was $20, so the batteries are likely to be cheaper.

    • What is the capacity of Varta batteries ?

  • I bought a bunch from a us site thomas distributing, they were $8 us a packet. But then our dollar was much better, and i had to buy a bunch to make up for shipping.

    • I just did that and bought 60 of them. If you are interested, $15 for pack of 4. I have 4 packs spare.

Prefer pickup (South of River in Perth).
