Used to have the 8243 (4 blade version of the 8103), was a pretty good and close shave, but the display crapped out on it after about a year. Updated to a LA63, IMO not as good a shave as the 8243, and after a year the display crapped out on it as well. Now using a Philips 1250, so far so good. 3 shavers from Amazon in 3 years, lol.
Hey I also had the 8243. Replaced the inner cutters, but really need to do the foils/external cutters. I guess I should get this (cheaper than a new blade set), since this range cuts well.
I think this is the one I purchased when it was on sale before. Battery life is poor and it is infuriating to want to use this when it is charging. It will not work whilst charging. Having said that, a very close shave!
Could be because lithium-ion batteries degrade significantly over time even when not used, and older model products such as this may have aleady spent a couple of years sitting in a warehouse.
My 8243 lasts about a week between charges and it is 2 years old (and was an old model before that). I have not noticed and change in the time between charges over this period. Even if it is flat, a 10 minute charge should be enough to get a shave out of it.
So this is for universal power (barring the need for a plug adaptor)?
The one I had (boght in US, not the same model though) worked from 110-240 V, so a simple plug adapter should be OK).

Nothing beats a traditional, single blade, double-edge razor! I've tried 3 different brands of electric shavers (including a panasonic) and they don't come close!
