  • Ainol.

  • At this resolution, text will be uncomfortable for reading, and you will likely get frustrated with the device — the resolutions are both lower than most phones!

I would recommend extending your budget to $90 - that will get you a 1024x600 resolution display.

from pandawill (I've used them, they were great):

or if you feel more comfortable buying through ebay:

  • If reading eBooks is your primary concern, then I think you ought to just buy a dedicated eReader, like a Kindle or Nook. The crappy resolution and LCD display aren't really conducive to a good reading experience, with the Chinese tablets.

    Kindle range - Amazon

After a quick look at the Dick Smith prices it would appear to me that we're getting a bit ripped off, so if you do go the Kindle route, perhaps investigate buying it directly from Amazon. There's also the new Kindle Paperwhite for $139 (Non 3G, no ads), which has integrated lighting, if that's what you're after.

Edit: sorry, missed your budget on my first read through. If you can extend your budget, I would recommend the Paperwhite, but the base Kindle is $69 ($89 no ads) on Amazon. It doesn't have 3G, but I'm of the opinion that the build quality is far superior to any China tablet, and that the Kindle would probably last longer (but that's just me).
