Hi OB, screen cracked on MSI, six months old, no idea how, MSI will not replace. Keeps deleting Wi-Fi capacity also, customer service at MSI is atrocious!
Prefer 17.3 inch screen, backlit keyboard, numeric keyboard, either i5/7, 16 ram, non gamer, stream movies so good screen, speakers & Wi-Fi connection.
Won't touch another MSI, prefer Gigabyte, ASUS, Dell (especially for customer service), bit iffy on Lenovo as never owned one.
Suggestions please for a make & model appreciated.

It was just sitting on your desk and zippity bang boom it cracked just like magic?
MSI will not replace.
What did you expect them to do with a cracked screen? It could hardly be anything MSI did to cause the damage ? Or is there more to it?
Appears I am not the only one! There is a known problem with screen hinges in MSI computers, my crack originates just above the hinge. I live alone, don't drink, shut it gently as always, first thing checked in the morning noticing crack whether anything left on the keyboard.
This is only one of numerous posts on Reddit alone, read one (I can't find now) a group of people were considering a class action. So no, pharkurnell, your sarcasm nor judgement & false assumptions are not warranted, manners & kindness should matter in everyone's world.

Have a look at Metabox. Their customer service has been really good with an issue I had with one. I've bought a fair few over the years.
After having a few issues with Lenovo WiFi cards, I am but iffy on them as well. Whilst good value, WiFi issues aren't ideal.
Otherwise, I would go for a Dell.
