Getting Australian Funds Returned from CurrencyFair

You are all probably aware of this - CurrencyFair ‘could be forced’ to cease payments for a year over alleged external fraud

As per the popup on the CurrencyFair website about out the "temporary pause on the processing of transactions for customers based in Australia" I requested the return of the funds in my CurrencyFair account. It only a few dollars, but its mine.

My initial request and follow up email get the same automated response including "As we are experiencing high volumes of queries at this time we will respond to you as soon as possible."

Any anyone else managed to get their funds returned from CurrencyFair?

Any thought on how to escalate, since my emails seem to be ignored?

Thanks

I stopped using CurrencyFair many years ago because their rates were not the best.

I always check the best available rates using the Monito.com comparison site before making a transfer.

For € or £ transfers to $AUD in Australia, these days Atlantic.Money always has the best rates because they exchange it for you at the actual live mid-market rate and only charge a flat £3 fee for anything up to a £1,000,000 transfer.

If CurrencyFair don’t respond to your complaint within a reasonable time or if their response is not to your satisfaction, lodge a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority using CURRENCYFAIR AUSTRALIA PTY LIMITED in the search.

    Best of luck!
